I was at Hacibaba restaurant for the first time back in 2011. A company took us to a business dinner in the VIP section of the restaurant and everyone loved the place, the service, the food and the atmosphere. Remembering the lovely impression and the location right at the beginning of Istiklal, I took my family there for a lunch... More

A wonderful restaurant but not now with the same name. It has chancged, but you can find the old logo of Haci Baba inside the restaurant, if you want to be sure, that this is the resaurant. Perfect service, very cleaned and nice dishes. It is a wonderful Turkey restaurant. It is not expensive at all and there is a... More

What a tragedy, i have been going there for 20 years and on my most recent visit to Istanbul, last week, discovered it has been replaced by a Hatay Sofrasi. A friend of kine who lives there heard from a neighboring shop that they were run out of business by the mafia, but no proof of that. So sad!

Extremely delicious cuisine - traditional Ottoman food. I cannot remember all names of that ones we ate but I really enjoyed - was almost ready to eat my fingers. If you want to "feel the atmosphere" together with perfect dinner you should definitely go to Haci Baba. Maybe it is a little bit touristic place of course but it does... More

This restaurant was recommended to us by our hotel staff. It was really intriguing as far as the interior design...very old, ethnic style. The staff was very helpful given we don't speak the language. The food, however, was just so so. We were seated in the inside room at the window overlooking the main street. That was very nice.

Authentic food, built around a hamam, decor from an era gone by - there's a lot that can be said about Hacibaba, but I'm going to say - try the varieties of vine leaves - a fine selection that can be paired with other mezzes for a complete meal. Try to get a table outside in the deck that overlooks... More

From outside - the restaurant entrance is facing the ever crowded pedestrian zone and shopping strip only a minute away from Taksim Place - you wouldn't say that there migth be a jewel awaiting you in first floor: the walls in the dining room are decorated in an Ottoman, ancient way, the whole place seems to be time-warped here from... the restaurant is in the main shopping street of the district. It was recommended by a collegue who lived in Istanbul and we thought the comments we read on this site were too negative, so we gave it a try. The place is mediocre, not particularly nice inside and it gives a bit the idea of an organized canteen. Waiters... More
