Beautiful Bawa Architecture with yummy food - can't beat it!

This restaurant is gorgeous. Bawa architecture is one of my favorite things about Sri Lanka, and at the Gallery Cafe you get that plus a great assortment of food and drinks. There is also a gift shop of some sorts, similar to what is at Paradise Road, that has some nice trinkets to give to people... read more

Myself and 4 friends arrived for lunch. I ordered the de-luxe burger with some parts removed (egg, caralamised onion etc) and asked for some cheese substitute. When the food arrived not only had the cheese not been melted (easily remedied) but there were only 4 chips. Now, I understand the benefits of presentation, but FOUR chips? I asked for the... More

One of the swankiest eateries in Colombo which serves an array of mouthwatering Sri Lankan delicacies, this al fresco dining joint was once the office of the legendary Lankan architect Geoffrey Bawa. Though expensive, a dining experience at the Gallery Café is highly recommended while touring Colombo.

We have had a 2 week Sri Lanka holiday and a dinner at Gallery Cafe was a great way to finish off our visit. The place is very pleasing to the eye, the art gallery had a nice exhibition and the Paradise Road shop being open until late is very handy. My Black Pork Curry was outstanding, one of the... More

This is a fine restaurant, mostly catering to ex-pats and sophisticated locals. It is open to the sky, so there is no air conditioning (so aim for dinner). Good service, if a bit slow.

Was told Gallery Cafe was the place to eat. The layout was nice enough. The food was a bit disappointing though, had the black curry, which was ok but a bit bland, and was expecting more since it was their signature dish and a mustard dish, which my lady was disappointed with as well, said it was actually too mustardy.... Really good food here. I had the lobster with a spicy rice and it was really good. It has a quite a different vibe as when you walk in its a art gallery where you can buy quite nice art pieces(if money isn't an issue). The desert here is epic as well, it is a definite must!
