Both my wife and I happened upon this restaurant as we walked around UlaanBaatar. We had a sumptuous Mongolian meal here at the Modern Nomads....could be due to the fact that we were starving! The service was great. Staff were very polite, friendly, efficient and the English medium wasn't a problem. The atmosphere & decor was welcoming. We tried their... More

It's not that easy to find good food in Ulaanbaatar. There aren't that many options. We went back to Modern Nomads (beware as there are various restaurants using 'nomad' as part of their name so you really need to ensure that you get to the right one). The soups are the only items on the menu, we found, that are... More

food is okay, service was slow - maybe because we were a larger group (15) - long wait between courses.l

Had a bucket of lamb for 2. Lamb is tender and tasty. Vodka at 4000T is cheap. Good value for money, I would highly recommend!

Think every tourist coming to Mongolia wants to taste traditional Mongolian food. So this is the best place to try Mongolian cuisine in a safe way. Though you can find here some European meals, most of items in Menu are traditional Mongolian foods. This is chain of restaurants located in most popular tourist places so you can find it easily.... If you're new in town and want the opportunity to try mongolian classics then this is an easy place to start with its English menu. Lots of dishes are only suitable for sharing and there are only two or three veggie options. A little on the expensive side but a nice atmosphere.

For reasons unknown to I, all the wine is half off. Great news for Joey as his precious tummy can't handle beer. A bottle of white, some traditional stir fry and a platter of dumplings meant we were having a good time. Food is reasonably priced - I am sure down a darkened ally, under the guise of a Karaoke... We visited Modern Nomads' with a group of 10 for lunch and week later for dinner. Good food both times - huge steak for lunch and excellently cooked tender beef for dinner. At dinner we noticed the wines were cheap. We had a bottle of sapperavi from Georgia and a bottle of Barolo.

I came here with a tour group. The food was average. Nothing spectacular, but it was a good variety of mongilian food.

I was with a tour so did not get to pick off the menu; they ordered for me. The food was exactly like what I'd been eating for three weeks and though it was OK, I was far from impressed.
