Like a pop/rock bar with live music. Only bad thing is that they close at midnight because of the new Mongolian Law.
This might be the safest place to visit during the night for a foreigner. Friendly environment. Gets crowded on weekends. Don't forget to go there before 9p.m and get the 40% discount on food. Drinks are okay, not expensive nor cheap :D Music is crap at times, especially the DJ! When everyone is dancing they suddenly play slow music! Philiphino... More
Strings just may be the best thing in Ulaanbaatar. Nice atmosphere. Fantastic band that plays a great range of music. They can do it all, just ask. Enthusiastic local Mongolian patrons. Just a sprinkle of tourists. Diverse age range. The band plays 3 sets and they play EVERY night. Clearly they are the hardest working Filipino band in Ulaanbaatar. Between... More
It's located right in the center at the back of a small hotel. It's like an american style disco-soft rock bar. The Filipino band is awesome. You will not regret.
I was there once. There was a philipino band playing that night and they were absolutely spectacular!

Bottom line is that the food is above average for the UB but as a night club it is probably the best and safest.for expats. The... More
I went once for the food and didn't think it was amazing but at night it is a night club and I had an amazing time. Live music and a pretty safe atmosphere

After getting shuffled around from table to table, we ordered some chicken fajitas then kicked back to listen to 24K, the talented Filipino... More
My experience in Strings is as a night club and I don't think the place is known by its food. The crowd is eclectic with locals celebrating birthdays, assorted businessmen and expats working in UB and the usual cadre of working girls at the bar. In Summer 09 there was a pretty decent Philippino band (very good by UB standards)... More
