The restaurant is on the second floor of the Kempinski hotel. But it is a very good Japanese restaurant (not just a hotel restaurant as a backup).

We had a very good meal at Sakura. The atmosphere is quiet and tranquil, despite being in a huge city. Each of us ordered something different, and each of us was pleased with his/her selection. Prices seemed fair for the items we ordered, and service was very good. We had a large group and enjoyed ourselves.

Nice place with pleasant service. But the food is just average for what you pay. There are other places that you can try for the same prices.

I love the Sunday brunch. Fresh milk for starters! I haven't found proper milk in Mongolia since I moved here. Generally a nice selection of food and fresh juices.

Second time I have been and was very disappointed with the food, wine and service. We waited close to an hour and a half for our food and when it came it was stone cold. The prices are quite high for Mongolia and this made the standard of food even more disappointing. The steak was quite tough, the scallops under... More

If you are going to eat at the Kemp hotel, avoid the poor brunch offered on sunday and go for sakura. The food is good, fresh, tasty. It is a bit pricy but one have to remember that salmon and tuna must be imported. Service if OK and decoration quite nice.

We arrived to find that the restaurant was full. We were saddened, but we were led to another area on the that floor where lo and behold was teppanyaki. This was a tiny little place with an "L" shaped grill and about 10 seats surrounding it. We were seated, coats taken and hung, then the service was non-stop from there.... More

Last Sunday I treated myself to a great banquet for brunch at the Kempinski. Now 38000 Tugrok is quite a lot for brunch and arriving about midday I was determined to get my money's worth. The selcetion of tasty brunch items was amazing and I relaxed and enjoyed a few hours eating some local and international food that was delightful.... More

Decided that since our dinner at the Kempinski's KharaKhorum restaurant was so good, we should check out their Japanese offering, Sakura. Great idea - superb wagyu cooked on the table top and apparently the only restaurant in UB to import fresh seafood from Tokyo's Tsukiji fish market twice a week - so we had good sushi (which I gather isn't... Our tour group of 7, including two guides (one local), dined here on our last night in Mongolia. We had spent two nights at the Kempinski Khan Palace, and this was during our time in a "day room" at the hotel. Our departure flight was at 11:55pm, so dinner was at 7 pm. Our meal was preordered, and included a... More
