Mongolian BBQ is not Mongolian, but was invented in Taiwan. This place served pretty much what you'd get in a US Mongolian BBQ, with the twist that the demonic grill guy had his own numbering system separate from the numbers on the counter, which resulted in your mixture getting someone else's sauce. The BBQ was fine. There was also a... More

I guess it's for the tourist only. Buffet style food was flat taste and cold. Nothing special and very poor decoration and display. OK, you choose your mix and give to the cook who after is doing a show to cook it and jumping, but saying that is Mongolia food...... not sure they do that in the steppe. I saw... More

Good food but somewhat Americanized - great if you are longing for a salad, which you might be after ger camps that seem to specialize meat and lots of it. Staff is friendly.

Part of the Nomad chain of restaurants, BD Mongolian BBQ is a western restaurant concept reminiscent of those that were all the rage in New York in the 90s - a wide range of meats, sauces and vegetables that you bring to a cooking station to cook on a circular plate over an open fire, a salad bar, some hot... Sadly, a disappointment. Tour groups frequent this spot, including our Trans-Siberian railway bunch. To a person we were disappointed. I confess the salad I put together from the salad bar was good, but I skipped the meat. It looked dodgy. I intend to give feedback to the National Geographic people to try to find another lunch spot for future groups.

An interesting concept, choose your veg, meat and sauce and have it stir fried in front of you. Very expensive for what it is unless you go for all you can eat and have a huge appetite. Very touristy

Food was decent and the staff was actually pretty nice. Fun atmosphere. Unfortunately, I got severe good poisoning here. Text book: felt perfectly fine all week. Ate here at 9pm. I woke up at 2am with severe stomachache then puked and had diarhea for the next 30 hrs. I had to go to the hospital and get IV because I... More

It is clearly on the tour group circuit, but we enjoyed it very much, none-the-less. Its an all-you-can-eat place with a lot of variety so after two weeks touring and eating pre-set ger camp meals (which get very repetitive and have few vegetables) it was a great relief to make our own choices and get our fill of veggies. Draft... More

So I ate here but could not take pictures because the staff freaked out that I had a camera!! One of the staff screamed at me for attempting to take a photo!! The food was above average but did indeed seem more American than Mongolian! They also had added bonus of stalking pig ear and nasty looking liver in the... More

Strangely, this restaurant is part of an American chain but it got good reviews so we decided to eat there one evening. The food was pretty good - an all you can eat buffet where you choose your ingredients then pass them to a chef who cooks them up on a large griddle. The clientele were mainly tourists and business... More
