We had been here a couple of times several years ago and had been unimpressed. But an overseas visitor who had lunch here twice commended it to us so on a dark and stormy night we tried again. It has been roughly doubled in size since our previous visits and this makes for a more open and comfortable environment. But... More

So first the price, they went a little much on the price but for what it's wroth not so good. Now for the food it's good but not very special so the food out of10 I will give it a 7. Service not so good they go straight away before they check if you need any thing.

There was lunch set offered when I visited the restaurant. The staffs were mostly friendly and it had a nice vibe.

Very good French food. Pricey by local standard but I suppose food must be imported into Laos. Ate with our French friends and they said it was very good standard. My husband especially loved the lamb shanks, melt in your mouth, and my son the steak tartare. First time eating raw beef, survived! Very good dessert, especially the profiteroles and... More

Terribly expensive restaurant with good food and decent wines. Not recommended for vegetarians. Atmosphere is not great. Staffs are polite but obviously not motivated and interested in what they are doing. Lot of better places in Vientiane.

What a shame, this has such potential and with a real french chef. It could be a lovely cosy bistro just like in France. Instead the it lacks atmosphere. The staff are 'just doing their job'. Don't get me wrong, they are polite and when they understand what you require they are most helpful. They lack enthusiasm about their job... More

If you want to eat really well and are prepared to pay near European prices, go here. Excellent steak and various tartars. Good wine too.

Our evening dinner at Bistro 22 was memorable for its excellence, definitely French (as is the owner / chef, who was around at the end to talk to us) yet with some unusual Lao-influenced features. The location, on a pleasant but ordinary street just out of the centre, means that people are unlikely to come across it by chance, so... More

As far as French food goes in Vientiane, in my opinion this is the best in town. I can see how this place is rated so high, the food, service and simple ambiance are all perfect. A must try place for anybody who appreciates quality French food.

Everytime I go to Vientiane, I go to Bistro 22 to have my lunch. It is good, simple and always well presented on the plate. What's more, they serve fresh baguette baked by "the Banneton", the only real French bakery located in Vientiane. And Philippe, the owner and Chef, always gives us the opportunity to have a little chat with... More
