A nice choice of croissants (chocolate, almond, ham) tartes (apple, apricot) and cakes. I had a ham croissant and latte for 33,000 kip ($4.15). Nice relaxing ambience, you hear a lot of french being spoken by the customers. There are flags of Laos and France hanging side-by-side.

According to Lonely Planet, this should be the best place for a croissant. We tried both the beurre and ordinaire one and they were both ok but quite tough. Croissant d'Or was way better. Americano coffee was good but the cappuccino on the table next to us definately didn't look that good.

Not sure where some of the bad reviews for this place are coming from as I had one of the best meals I've had in Laos at this pretty little cafe. I went for the brunch and for 68,000 Kip I had a coffee, juice, two butter croissants with jam, a smoked salmon tartine, a bacon and carrot muffin and... More

I went there after reading good reviews and I was really disappointed. Croissants were average, 'flan' was not creamy and had a bland taste. The taste of the quiche was really off and the worst was probably the duck confit salad flooded in oil. Everything was wrong there. Not sure if there was a problem with the cook that day... More

This place is warm and smells delicious upon entering. You will not regret a visit here, the coffee is fantastic, the bakery items fresh and the service is prompt. Try a fresh croissant or baguette, you won't be disappointed. Great value too.

Visited 9AM on a Monday. Butter croissant had a nice flavour, but was tough. Regular croissant was also tough, with little flavour. Coffee was nice. Frenchman next to me refused to eat his pain au chocolat, insisting it was day old (while waiter insisted everything was fresh that morning). Folks in Luang Prabang and Vang Vieng had told me Le... Nice hot coffee and hot chocolate as well as juices. Breakfast were excellent, cheese ham croissants, scrambles eggs, pan au chocolate etc... Close to centre and great place to start walk of sights.

So glad we skipped our mediocre hotel breakfast. Breakfast was delicious. Chicken panini and a egg plate. Also had double espresso, cappucino, and a warm apple tart which were all excellent. We had a brief wait for a table, outside seating available, but we were seated before our meal came. Asked for crispy bacon and got it! Only demerit would... More

What a find! I follow a very strict tea time schedule and Le Banneton did not disappoint on the latte and croissant! This cafe offered wonderful pan au chocolate- with the chocolate melted perfectly into the buttery layers of dough. Scrumptious coconut buns, frangipane, and galettes that just glistened, and the tarte au citron was glossy and tart - just... More

We knew 'Le Banneton' from last year in Luang Prabang - so we thought we knew what to expect. But we were very wrong. The salade de canard was very disappointing, the duck meat very dry, like old and laying around. The passion fruit shake was very good - that's why I'm giving 3 points instead of 2.
