Our first Lao meal

Went to Amphone for the first time the other night after hearing about it for years from friends. The food was cooked perfect, great selection, good service and all around had a lovely evening. It was a pity it was not more crowded. Being slightly tucked back off the main road by Joma, across the alley from Jazzy Brick might... More

I was sent to this restaurant by the hotel. The setting was quite promisin but it was all downhill from there. This place is #64 on Tripadvisor and I think that is generous. There 8 people in the restarant yet I had to wait an hour fof the first course. The food was just home cooking and poofly spiced and... More

Tucked away, but still very central, this is a little gem. The food is excellent and a good introduction to Lao food for the slightly less adventurous. The dishes are tasty, nicely presented and the atmosphere is nice and quiet.

This is the best Lao food I had in Vientiane It was very quiet that evening with very few customers but the atmosphere in the courtyard was nice. The laap, curries and mok paa (fish cooked in leaf) were delicious, with subtle flavours. The selection of wines was pretty good and the staff was nice. When in Vientiane, i will... More

I had sin savanh and yor jeun. Tasted good. I think there was something lost in translation because I also ordered sticky rice and jeow mak Len but they didn't show up. I would go again.

Rating is only a representation of the fact we only had a very small portion of the menu. Went in for a light dinner and bought 2 appetisers which were generously portioned! Would love to try the menu more in depth if we had the time.

We dropped in because of a heavy rainshower, and the place was a bit over our backpacker budget, but we did take the 80 000 kip menus which were exquisite. Good choice of restaurant if you want to treat yourself to good and authentic Lao food.

Considering Luke Nguyen supposedly cooked here, we were disappointed. The food was lovely but certainly not outstanding in any way. Service was excellent but there is something very bland and quite cold (although tasteful decor) about the atmosphere. it is also overpriced when compared to other restaurants of better quality in town.
