We had a bad experience here. We ordered a main course each. My Mekong fish and potato soufflé arrived in reasonable time, but my wife's order did not arrive until 20 minutes AFTER I had finished my dinner. The staff are not well organised and they seem to get little direction. I asked to speak to the proprietor but was... More

Come to Le Vendome for their lunch during weekdays. It might be the cheapest French lunch you can ever find. Service was poor and slow. Most of the times i didnt know where the waiters were. It takes time to get the menu and takes even more time to serve.

Get yourself here if you're in Vientiane. Lunchtime specials are very affordable even for a long term backpacker. The food is great. I mean really really good. Really can get away with spending little because they'll keep filling you up with water if you don't wanna fork out for a drink.

This restaurant is a bit of a mixed bag. Good points are: the range of the menu (soufflés, soups, salads etc), the large portions, the relaxed atmosphere (probably not the spot for a quick meal!). Not so good: it is a bit grubby, service is a bit haphazard. But when you just don't want any more fried rice or spicy... More

We should have known better - we generally prefer to stick with local food while travelling in Asia - but we had read that their inexpensive lunch menu was a good deal, and the restaurant was close to our hotel, so we gave it a try. We sat "outdoors" on the covered patio. The tables were rather crowded and the... More

We ate here first night because it was close to our hotel and reviews had been good in Lonely Planet. I found it overpriced for Vientiane with so much good Lao food on offer for much better prices. The quasi French cooking was not worth the extra cost and the service was lackluster. Definitely past its prime...

We found this laid back restaurant in a back street & almost hidden by the creeper on the walls! We sat outside on the covered verandah as it was a bit cooler than the interior, which looked very bohemian. The food was pretty average French cuisine but the prices were good & the carafe of red wine was very drinkable!... More

Le Vendôme is a fun French restaurant in Vientiane. Here they have soufflés, pâtés, salads, wood-fired pizzas, terrines and steaks. My soufflé was delicious. The candle-lit, stucco interior, adorned with vintage bull-fighting posters, and frequented by young travelers from everywhere is a place for good food with an upbeat lively atmosphere. When I was there, I observed some interesting and... More

This is an old classic in Vientiane. The food is nice, especially particular French specialities. The prices have always been very reasonable. I think the place has never been redecorated or given a fresh coat of paint and that is just adding to the cool ambience sitting on the outdoor veranda. The staff has during the last 17 years I... I can't understand it when people say Le Vendome is expensive, because it is not. I always take visitors to Vientiane there and they are never disappointed. The menu very French provincial which makes a nice change but the standard fare, but you can still get an excellent steak for less than $10 and I will guarantee it will melt... More
