Seems that others have had problems with the service, but we didn't encounter any issues. Got seated, orders were correctly placed and swiftly presented. A bit pricey place, so the cost-to-quality might not be an exact match (this is not to say that the food was flawed in any way!), but overall really enjoyable dining experience.

The food I have had from Kanji has been amazing on the 2 occasions I have been there. The service however left a lot to be desired and just ruined the night quite frankly. Couldn't get serviced for water, a drink,, to have my order taken or even get the bill. The chef in the tempura section actually came over... More

I was expecting more from Kanji being one of Luu Meng's creations or maybe ownership has already changed. I felt the food was over priced and I expected better quality with the sashimi and more attentive service. I had Sashimi and Sushi set plus Shabu Shabu with my wife. The bill was just over $100. You can get the same... More

Portions are very small, even for japanese food, and prices are way too high considering the portion sizes. Rice used in making sushi slightly hardened, indicating either a lack of freshness, or undercooking, both very much unacceptable at this price range. Service is VERY slow and inattentive, a real surprise for a japanese restaurant (most others pride themselves on top-notch... More

Our experience at Kanji restaurant was terrible. Portions of sushis are ridiculous, maki rolls did not seem fresh, and we were still quite hungry after eating each a 22$ combo plate - you can have 4 people eat very decently for that price in the city! The atmosphere was quite bad too, although there were many staff, they were obviously... More

We have been to the Almond Hotel a couple of times for their legendary Dim Sum. Each time Kanji has been fully booked and has had good reviews, why we decided to give it a go. We have been to other Luu Meng restaurants - Malis, Topaz - and should have been warned. Good marketing and poor performance. After a... More

Invited some special friends for dinner and I was really impressed with the good quality of the food, especially the freshness of the fish and the delicate taste of the various dishes. My guests were so impressed that they want to go back again. Chef Mike has done a fantastic job in presenting high quality Japanese food.

When I compare this to the simple, unassuming Thai place I went to the night before (Ayotaya), Kanji is left wanting. Luu Meng's ventures are always trumpeted in the press with great fanfare. In my opinion, his establishments do score reasonably highly for food, but always fall flat on their faces when it comes to service (Yi Sang riverside please... More

What a pleasant surprise this new Japanese Restaurant in Phnom Penh was. Staff ( and there a lot of them) very attentive and pleasant, service excellent. The proof is in the pudding though and the food was memorable. I found myself thinking that I had not had Japanese cuisine that good since visiting Japan. There are a few good Japanese... More
