Great place to chill

I love this venue. Chilled, great music, great food. I see some reviewers had complaints, but for what it is I really could not fault it. If you are expecting fine dining or silver service then go elsewhere. But if you like cold beer, excellent frozen margaritas, and authentic tasting Mexican... read more

Thanks for your review. We work very hard to offer high quality food and drinks at very reasonable prices. Glad you enjoyed the music too, the playlist is handpicked and is about 2 weeks long so it took some time to put together! More

we came a few times actually I didn't just mean the one time you serves us in my initial review. I have read how defensive and angry you get at people's personal opinions. As paying guests we are allowed to give our honest opinions you cannot get so angry at people over what they truly believe. The food was great... More

I can assure you I am not usually angry in my response, we just like to give our side of the story too. I was really happy that you... More

Having not been to Alley Cat for twelve months, I was so pleased that it's lost none of it's charm and ambience. It's still a very cool place, not all bright and lit up. All the seating is inside, but that's where the excellent (recorded) music is, and the great shooters. So cheap! Totally non-intrusive staff, and you just holler... More

I attended Sundowner Session, an open mic celebrated Sundays hosted by muso Joe Wrigley. Great Mexican food and margaritas. Cosy venue with cool people. Psychedelic rockers mixed with blues and folk rockers. excellent venue for making new friends.

I was used to go in this place, and after a long time, I went back at Alley Cat this week. Two times. And the two times the food was really not good, not cook well, not set well. And those two times, I was sick (my friend also) the day after. I don't recommend this place, it's not now... More

Good value $7 for a massive fajita! Enough to share for 2 if not starving! Very yummy! Cheap drinks :) Atmosphere quiet on Tuesday evening - nice music in background hosted by very nice polite staff

My husband chose this quirky place to eat as he loves Mexican food. We ordered queso dip, chorizo quesadilla and pork enchiladas. The prices certainly weren't cheap. The queso dip was quite nice, however the quesadilla and enchilada wan't very nice at all and far from authentic mexican food. Our expectations weren't set high, however it was disappointing that the... More

My sincere apologies that your food was served incorrectly. We are holding training sessions with our kitchen staff all this week to make sure food is handled correctly and heated to a correct serving temperature. As way of some explanation I would like to let you know that the manager in charge that night was recovering from a severe case... More

Was mainly here to visit as a live music buff and late night bar hopper. Only had one meal , a beef taco which was not great due to the meat being tough and gristly....but hey , everyone else enjoyed their meal, the ambience was great and the quirky venue memorable....I recomend this bar for people of like mind.

Glad you enjoyed the food and music. We have been speaking with our supplier regarding the occasional tough gristle in the mince beef, this is a quality control issue on their end, we will get it sorted out. Thanks for the review More

The bar lies in a rather dark alley but don't let this put you off. There's a hotel right next to it and most people around are tuk-tuk drivers waiting to chase the next hotel guest. The bar is in a garage, it's not the typical restaurant, but we liked that. The night before we had had dinner at one... More

Thanks for your review. I would like to point out the restaurant is not in a garage, but an Asian style shop house. This is an area at the front of a house that can be used for a business. Some people also use it to park their car at night, but it's still not a garage! Glad you enjoyed... More

Went here on the recommendation of friends. Had a couple of Mexican dishes which were tasty but was surprised that the beer came in cans! Service was good and friendly. Would recommend if you want to try some authentic Mexican food.

Alley Cat Cafe was established in 2005, and back then draught beer wasn't so common and cans were prefered for their consistency. We only have a small bar area, and it wasn't designed with draught in mind. We serve all our beer in cans or bottles from well iced beer coolers so it is icy cold! More
