A great alternative to daily Asian fare

Altough we are Asian food lovers, once in a while we feel like eating western comfort food. Today was this kind of day, and we headed to the Rising Sun Pub for the Sunday roast, apparently an institution in Phnom Penh's Riverside. A generous portion of meat (we had beef and pork), together with... read more

We go to Rising Sun all the time and it never fails to impress with the quality of food and the portions. Ok, it's not fine dining and it doesn't pretend to be, but it does pub grub the way you remember it should be. The drinks are reasonably priced, the service is spot-on and the food comes in more... Rising Sun breakfasts are an institution in Phnom Penh; consistently good quality, and big enough to last a whole day. The other food is also highly recommended. Their chips are made from real potatoes, and they have recently changed their sausage supplier, so they are much tastier than found in many restaurants around town. Despite not being actually on the... More

"The Rising" is one of the stalwarts for western comfort food in Phnom Penh. Nothing pretentious here except good quality hearty meals in a congenital location near the Riverfront. Their breakfasts are famous for the morning after cure, and will set you up for a day of any activities.

I am an expat regular at Rising Sun since 2007. It does good portions at a reasonable price. I find the half breakfast is enough for me. The Sunday Roasts are excellent, as are the meat pies and fish and chips. They do real chips. Vegetarians might like their bean burger. My only complaint with this is it would be... More

My family and I go here a lot. The food is Western style and their English breakfasts start at $4.50. Beer is $1.50. A quiet and relaxing place that is worth a visit.

I chanced upon this very cosy pub/restaurant while looking for somewhere to eat. It is based on the British style of pub, so I imagine is well attended at night. Early lunchtime it was wonderfully quiet, and cool. I had the potato skins with cheese and bacon - very generous portion, and my lunch partner had the enormous chicken salad.... More

The menu here is quite small but its the old old story, what they do here, they do really well. If you are after Pie and Chips or mash this is great. Real chips made from real potatoes none of the McD rubbish. Pies with real pastry or Sheperds pie. Huge portions and the Sundays Roast is better than your... More

Granted this place mostly offers western food but it's a taste sensation. Came here twice during my visit to Cambodia! The fish and chips are GOOD!!

We are here today, I had half a breakfast, don't really rate the sausages but everything else was spot on. My partner had fish n scallops, better than home! Definitely worth a visit when your tired of Cambodian food :)
