Seafood Amok! My First Meal in Cambodia

This restaurant is highly recommended! For the 1st timer traveller in Phnom Penh, Cambodia like me, you must try your 1st meal here. To taste the authentic khmer food, they have a variety of amok from seafood, pork, chicken. I think all are deliscious! And also the beef meal. Thier iced tea is... read more

Everytime I go to Phnom Penh, I stop by this restaurant! And I always take the same meal: AMOK FISH! I'm a great fan of this traditional khmer dish and I have to admit that the "Amok" at Khmer Saravan Restaurant is the best I've ever eaten! And do not forget to leave your drawing on the wall ;)

Customers can ask for crayons and paper to decorate the walls, I think one or two may even have been done by children, check out my excellent Durham Cathederal if you are visiting (best one I have done since I was 6) Food was good, frogs and coconut prawns to start, although I don't think I'll be going amphibian for... Our Tuk Tuk driver is our guide and brought us to this restaurant as we will try a new one each night. The service was very good and the food was very well prepared. I had duck with Hokkien noodles and it was delicious. I wanted a coconut smoothie but they had run out of coconuts so I settled on... More

This is a must go place for soup lovers. Found this restaurant two years years ago and the taste and quality of the pho is still consistently good till now. The meat, meatballs and the broth are so savory.

This was my first meal in Cambodia and a great introduction. I got an Amok (fish based coconut curry) for $5. It was delicious and staff very friendly.

Why did we carry on waiting? Because we were being polite to the Tuk Tuk driver who recommended it. If it is true that tuk tuk drivers and tour guides recieve money for bringing in guests here, I guess we are foolish to have waited. The food took an hour and we kept reminding them. After 30 minutes they admitted... More

I loved this restaurant as it had such a wonderful atmosphere. The food was good and reasonably priced and we weren't kept waiting too long. It seemed to be a favourite of backpackers, as the walls were covered in messages and pictures which we thoroughly enjoyed reading. There were nine of us and we recognised a message from a similar... The food here is really good, we had soups to start and curries for main. All were excellent. We paid $25 for 2 mains, 2 starters, 3 beers, 1 water and 1 coffee. Not bad value at all! The restaurant itself looks like nothing special, the walls are covered with children's drawings from all over the world which is a... More

Lets start with some positives 1) The food (if you choose to use that word liberally) comes quickly, i mean really fast, which leads me to believe the cooking process may be flawed 2) The staff are attentive (but not very good). Thats it......whatever else is just not worth talking about, the food tastes like reconstituted cardboard (not that i... More
