We came to have a dinner at Van's on our last night in Phnom Penh and what an ending for our trip it was! We were the only customers in the whole place and had three waiters taking care of us the whole evening. The waiters took really good care of us and we felt like royals in our private... More

As a chef, I have a need to eat fine foods every so often when backpacking. The staff was in a hurry to get rid of us. We arrived at 830 with a reservation. We ordered from the prix fixe menu, three courses, plus one additional course of foie terrine. The attempt was there on the first course, but tar... More

Lovely restaurant in a building which once belonged to the Bank of Indochina. We had the Christmas set lunch menu. Appetizers were very good. But the mains were atrocious. It was obvious that it is a businessman's restaurant and all of the businessmen had left Phnom Penh for the Christmas holidays. So it was extremely quiet. The chef chose to... More

Dear Lynne , thank you for your feedback. This 150 year old building that houses Van’s Restaurant is magnificent and was shortlisted by UNESCO heritage preservation in 2006. The building belonged to the Cambodian Van Family in 1960 and was their family home for more than a decade and until the civil war broke out. After the civil unrest the... More

We have been to many restaurants in PP and certainly like Topaz and Malis - your #1 and #2 - but our view is that Van is better than either of these. The cheaper menu at the back is excellent and I think that we have tried all the offerings. The wine list is superb and the ambience is great.

I spent really good time on here. Business lunch could select several starter, main and dessert. The taste of every dish reminds me basic traditional French Cuisine. The services are not so bad, but not excellent. The balcony is very good view for taking some pictures. I wish to come back soon.

For 15 usd you have the starter+main or main+dessert and a drink+coffee. I took the parmentier of lamb and the chocolate mi cuit with a caramel heart. Good parmentier with the lamb taste and the sweet onion. My client took also a salmon croquette with wasabi, surprising and tasty. Honestly for this price I didn't find a better deal in... More
