Ever tried ambuyat?. its Brunei's local dish, a starchy porridge. If you are really hungry and not really that adventurous then stick to rice (this advise goes to those who took rice as staple food). This restaurant offer a few set dish that you can choose. Again its a bit gluey to me but above all that gluey starchy thing..it's... More

Restaurant look very ordinary, humid and warm despite air-conditioned. Service was slow but this was forgiven when the food arrived. The Ambuyat was delicious, fried fish was crispy and tasty, prawn and squid were very fresh. The food was delicious in general. Only criticism was the lime drink was extremely sweet, even after further dilution with water and ice.

Never leave Brunei without try Ambuyat, this is one of the traditional local food in Brunei, I came here with my friends, although the taste just so so for me, but the way of eating Ambuyat is so unique. I had to try few times before I can eat it without chewing.

I love the ambuyat. Hope to taste it again. The glue-like dish surely tickles taste buds especially with its matching dip. I also like the tricky way you have to eat it. you have to twirl it around a stick. Dip it into the sauce and swallow. I would love to taste it again.

If you are a tourist in brunei and looking for local food, this is the place to go. It serves a dish called ambuyat, which is a sago paste served with a range of condiments and dips. The paste itself is tasteless so you need to dip it into the condiments. They also serve other local dishes but most people... More

Long story short - ambuyat is a must try. Don't chew, but swallow. The staff at the restaurant were very willing to help me understand this and I have now come back to Singapore wanting to keep eating it. I enjoyed my visit here very much and am looking forward to coming back in the near future.

This is the one stop area where most tourists are brought to when they want a taste of Brunei - solely because of the ambuyat. Weird-looking almost inedible alien-like cloudy sticky jelly thing that you eat with two married sticks where after scooping, you dip it into this orangy paste and come up with the courage to eat it. Don't... More

@ Kiulap branch for early dinner w family in ambuyat set (cant remember - ambuyat, urat daging sambal, sambal tempoyak, pucuk ubi masak lemak, ikan kembong kari...). Maybe I'm hungry at that time... but the 'lauk' are tasty for me :) have not been satisfied w malay restaurant 'lauk' for some time. Although in my visit, the ambuyat not 100%... More

We went here for a late lunch coming from the Masjid Jame' Asr (10 mins walk). There were few customers, mainly locals. All ordered ambuyat so it appears that this is THE place to have them. One can take the bus 01, 20, 22, either Kampung Kuilap stop (bus 20) or the Japanese embassy / walkway for the others.
