I love the ambuyat. Hope to taste it again. The glue-like dish surely tickles taste buds especially with its matching dip. I also like the tricky way you have to eat it. you have to twirl it around a stick. Dip it into the sauce and swallow. I would love to taste it again.

If you are a tourist in brunei and looking for local food, this is the place to go. It serves a dish called ambuyat, which is a sago paste served with a range of condiments and dips. The paste itself is tasteless so you need to dip it into the condiments. They also serve other local dishes but most people... More

Long story short - ambuyat is a must try. Don't chew, but swallow. The staff at the restaurant were very willing to help me understand this and I have now come back to Singapore wanting to keep eating it. I enjoyed my visit here very much and am looking forward to coming back in the near future.

This is the one stop area where most tourists are brought to when they want a taste of Brunei - solely because of the ambuyat. Weird-looking almost inedible alien-like cloudy sticky jelly thing that you eat with two married sticks where after scooping, you dip it into this orangy paste and come up with the courage to eat it. Don't... More

@ Kiulap branch for early dinner w family in ambuyat set (cant remember - ambuyat, urat daging sambal, sambal tempoyak, pucuk ubi masak lemak, ikan kembong kari...). Maybe I'm hungry at that time... but the 'lauk' are tasty for me :) have not been satisfied w malay restaurant 'lauk' for some time. Although in my visit, the ambuyat not 100%... More

We went here for a late lunch coming from the Masjid Jame' Asr (10 mins walk). There were few customers, mainly locals. All ordered ambuyat so it appears that this is THE place to have them. One can take the bus 01, 20, 22, either Kampung Kuilap stop (bus 20) or the Japanese embassy / walkway for the others.

Same as everyone else - only came here to try Ambuyat which for a supposed national dish is quite hard to come by as is the restaurant. We got dropped off by our free shuttle next to a group of shops but the driver had no idea where the place was. Wandered round for about 20 mins which is quite... More

Tried the local dish of Brunei, ambuyat in here. Apparently, this is the best place to try ambuyat in Bandar Sri Begawan. Everyone that I asked about where to try ambuyat advised me to come here. The one that I tried, is the one in kiulap nearby Hwa Ho department store. If you stayed in Radisson Hotel, they have a... More

I came here for the traditional food ambuyat but mind you the service of these place is terrible. The waiters and waitress have attitude problem. I thought probably just for one branch but when I went to the other branches, it is the same. They need some positive motivational training I think! Food is great although they will charge for... If you are one to try local food, head to this restaurant and get 'Ambuyat'. It is a glue-like paste made from sago..its tasteless if eaten by its own, but usually eaten with its gravy... I recommend you to take a gravy call 'cacah campur'.. Direct translation is mixed- gravy.. Its a spicy gravy and highly recommended. The food will... More
