good people-watching spot

This is a nice place to sit with a drink and watch the cars/motorbikes/tourists go by. Also had some happy hour drink specials.

Due to weather-related flight cancellations, we arrived after 11 pm (2300 hrs) and we were starving. What a relief to see a jam-packed little place right across from our hotel! This place is obviously a late night hangout for young travelers and locals. Nevertheless, we senior citizens felt comfortable, welcome and relieved to find both American style choices and, as... Nice bar but service is lousy. We order only two smoothies and one espresso and had to wait about ten min for the smoothies and another ten for an !! Espresso !! ...and the table next to us, came later, but got their drinks including 3 different dishes earlier.

The food and service where good. A tiny cute waitress had a chi chag with us and learned us the drinking habit of the vietnamese. She was probably trying to get us drunk ('one more time, one more time') and she probably thought she succeded. When they gave us the bill, hardly anything was correct. She blamed it on the... More

Had food here lunch and dinner twice as the food is brilliant. If you fancy having some homely(British/western) food.. This is the place! Cheap and yummy! Chicken either mushroom sauce, mash potato and veg? Bloody amazing! Cheap beer as well! Top notch! Oh and there's a pool table!

Staff were very very friendly if not a bit too quick to clear your plate etc, watching for the second you finish your meal, but always on hand to serve you. We went back two nights and just chilled out watching the sport on TV and making the most of cheap tiger beer and a free pool table

We visited twice while we were in Hue. The first time we went for cocktails, but were a little disappointed when the mimosa turned up as flat and watery orange juice, despite us having seen them go and buy two bottles of sparkling rose. We weren't sure about going back but didn't want to talk far and weren't especially hungry... More

We tried some local Hué specialities, and they managed to get my order wrong. When I finally got my food, it was a mix of salad, overcooked vermicelli and some stringy pieces of pork. They played really loud dance music with two guests in the restaurant at 7pm. Not really something I would go back to.

While staying at Hue Backpackers we found this place just down the street and had a lovely breakfast at a great price. We had boiled eggs and toast and also an American breakfast comprised of bacon, eggs, hash browns etc...I'd recommend for a good feed anyways!

Why Not is a westernised version of a vitnamese bar, with a mixture of burgers and traditional vietnamese food. Prices are OK, and service is good and theres a decent selection of music, but be prepared for the hawkers who will come onto the terrace and try thier very best to really annoy you. I suppose thats the price you... More
