Good Food, Good Photos, Good Value

Went to Mandarin Cafe at recommendation of our tour guide and also of several in our group who had gone for lunch the day before. Certainly not the most elegant place to eat in Vietnam--but the food is delicious, the prices beyond belief. Mr. Cu is charming and his photos delightful. Definitely... read more

Went to find this cafe on recommendation from a friend in the UK. When we found it we were a bit put off by its appearance - looked like a typical "greasy spoon" in England. However once inside it was a different story. Great friendly staff, family atmosphere, lovely food and plenty of beer and wine to drink. The prices... More

althoug it sounds like an oxymoron - Mr. Cu s small restaurant located next to Imperial Hotel is fantastic: service is quick, the food is very good and the prices are superlow in comparision to what you are charged as tourist at other places, IT IS A MUST TO EAT at his cafe!

This central cafe was recommended by a friend and typifies a family run restaurant. Mr Phan Cu is an amateur photographer who makes his own postcards. A tasty inexpensive lunch. And they book trips too. Because we are here for the afternoon only he told us just to walk 'it's free' except for entry fees to the sights. Deserves support... More

A rare treat to be entertained by the owner/photographer of this small, unpretentious cafe in the heart of Hue. Great food, good wine and the opportunity to enjoy and/or purchase some memorable photographs.

Visited the Mandarin Cafe today and thoroughly enjoyed it. There is a very large menu covering just about everything. I ate the local Bun Bo beef and noodle dish it was lovely. The staff are friendly too. We also met the owner Mr Cu who we had heard of because of his charity work with children. A very charming and... More

Brought here by our tour guide. Second to worst meal we had on our two week holiday. Dirty plates, Touristy, expensive, very average food. Charming owner but that's about it.

For us it was all about the tours. Mr Cu made us feel very welcome, straight off the bus. He shared his wonderful photography with us and put us in the hands of his very capable tour organiser who provided us with a car, a tour guide and a customised itinerary for our three days stay at an affordable cost....
