Just "delightful"

I am always a bit wary when a tour guide makes an recommendation thinking (Brit cynicism) that there's a backhander coming in somewhere. I am wrong. You enter via a side street and wonder if you've made the right decision, once inside you realise you have. The menu is a delight, far better than... read more

Very conveniently located in the heart of the city centre, close to Sheraton, Caravelle, Opera House and Dong Khoi street Area. Good Vietnamese comtempory cuisines like luk lak beef stir fries, spring rolls. If you wish to savor Vietnamese food and this is a place you should go at least one when you are in Ho Chi Minh City. You... More

This is a great restaurant! There are few Vietnamese restaurants in District 1 as good as Lemongrass. It is frequented by westerners and tourists because the hotels of District 1 have grown up around it - Lemongrass was there before the Sheraton and Caravelle. I lived in HCMC in the mid 90s and loved this place then - live in... More

I am usually a bit wary when restaurants are recommended by concierges, tour companies and the like as they are quite often what these people assume that tourists want. ie bland, safe, westernised food. The food here is well presented if you like little paper umbrellas in coconut shells etc. but is really not that interesting. We found a large... More

We were a group of 11 and visited Lemongrass because of high recommendations. We were all surprised at extremely slow service. Took 45 minutes to get food and 20 minutes to get change from bill. In general it was poor service. Food was too spicy for half the group. I liked mine hot so no complaints from me but it... More

I suspect who ever owns the Bier Garden owns Lemongrass as well. Posters in the Bier Garden and the fact some of the same staff float between both would probably mean this is the case. In short, over priced establishment where the food was.. Ordinary. If I am paying the money they are asking for a dish I wanted it... More

Recommended by our hotel concierge (Majestic). On a quiet side street just off Dong Khoi. A mid-range restaurant. Good selection of Vietnamese food. Friendly efficient service. Live acoustic music is played in the various small rooms that make up the restaurant set in an old townhouse. Good atmosphere.
