I ate here twice during a 3-week business trip, when I occasionally got a craving for something Western. They have Asian dishes as well. Balcony with cathedral view offers a nice place to sip a beer and if the fans don't keep you cool enough, the upstairs dining room has AC. On a Sunday afternoon I saw a splendid procession... More

When I am staying in the Old Quarter, I go to this restaurant almost every day...for a mid-morning coffee, for lunch, for a cold drink in the mid-afternoon, or for dinner. The menu is tremendously varied and includes an excellent assortment of Vietnamese and Western dishes, all affordably priced. From the balcony the view of St. Joseph's Cathedral is unsurpassed.... Went here to read and cool down after a long day. I only ordered a honey citrus drink and the staff let me stay for almost three hours! It's a decent hang out place, with a lot of local youth dropping by for some quality chitchat with friends. Get the seats by the second floor window to get a view... More

it had a great vibe and a great location. But, the food was not so yummy. I've tasted far better food and coffee in the street corners of Vietnam. I was barely able to finish my bun cha and the chocolate crepe I ordered was a bit too thick and too rubbery for crepes to my liking.

This cafe is just by St Joseph Cathedral and upstairs offers views of the church. The cafe is modern with young staff, great food and fab service. The food was tasty and good value, but the cocktails ok, so stick to beer or the juices.

La Place hit all the marks. The price of the food seems pretty standard for the area - and given the location, I think it's very reasonable. The range is $4-$8 for a dish. (the Bun Cha was $3, the Cha Ca was $5). The food was really tasty, and they make a very respectable cappuccino (perfect temperature and milk-to-coffee... More

La Place was my favourite cafe in Hanoi. Slightly more expensive than other cafes, but more than worth it. It was my first experience (and best) of Pho. The location and view are to die for. The decor is perfect for the location and atmosphere. La Place is definitely recommended for food, drink, relax. Try and get a window seat... More

Of all the places I ate during my 10-day stay in Hanoi, La Place was my favorite – easily! The location, the welcoming and friendly staff, the service, the relaxed “vibes” of the place, all contributed to making it my number one choice. Oh, and the food as well! Their French onion soup and fried spring rolls (washed down with... More

This restaurant has a great view of the cathedral. Staff were pleasant and food was fine, just a bit pricey in the end. There are other local places around the area that may be less picturesque inside but serve similar food for much less.

This restaurant is a very nice place. The atmosphere is cosy and the service is exelent. The meals have a broad varity and is delicious. You can get western and asian meals. You can also sit here for getting a cup of coffee. Sitting at the balcony you have a wounderfull view over to the Cathedral. It is a "must"... More
