Description: Created in December, 2008, by three French friends, Minh Spielmann...
Created in December, 2008, by three French friends, Minh Spielmann, Benjamin Rascalou & Anthony Balenci, La Badiane -French for the Star Anise spice- is heralding its claim to be one of the best restaurants in Vietnam dedicated to fusion of flavors and international gastronomy. Surrounded by harmonious leaf plants, & walls predominantly white alternating with carefully chosen vivid colors, the place provides for a true feeling of calm and elegance, which gathers the best conditions to let your senses express themselves. When coming in, an open-sky corridor planted with luxuriant vegetation leads you towards the heart of the restaurant. One’s attention will be instantly caught by the multitude of perfumes & aromas flowing out of the open front kitchen. Then, depending on your mood & weather permitting, you can have your meal in the airy Patio, calm, convivial & surrounded by photographic art works. For a more intimate setting with warm colors you can choose one of the three air-conditioned rooms located between the ground and the first floor. At la Badiane, all is about food but there’s also great attention paid to the service and the overall atmosphere, so that we make sure you enjoy every aspect of your meal. La Badiane, top 500 Restaurants in Asia by Miele Guide and “Certificate of Excellence” by Trip Advisor in 3 consecutive years 2012, 2013 and 2014 will never fail to satisfy you. Moreover, at this very same “picky” travel community, there were more than 300 upvotes as “EXCELLENT” for La Badiane – a formidable rating which can only be seen for top-end restaurants.

Great dinner with my dearest friend

Great food, very original French food, best French food I've ever tasted in Viet Nam so far. The owner is very attentive to customer. Each plat were well done, delicate taste of original ingredients kept. The main course was excellent with Sea bar fish, all sauces are going so well with the fish... read more

Great French cooking and good selection of wines. The small dining room reserved for private dining on first floor is perfect to host small party for less than 10.

I was a little nervous after reading some of the reviews, but so glad I booked dinner here. Dining area was much more glamorous than I'd expected - possibly a recent reno? - with a lovely warm feel, comfortable seating and good service. The food was superb. We ate a la carte, and were full after an entree and main.... More

This place was so immemorable, I can't remember what I ate, just that it was something I could have had at home in the U.S. for less. I really wonder how guide books decide which restaurants to list and if they even ever had a meal at the place. I guess, if you are craving western food, you won't go... More

We came here after eating nothing but authentic Vietnamese cuisine for 2 weeks. We were ready for a change and so found this place recommended in the lonely planet guide book. The food was beautifully presented and each of the 3 courses was delicious. The melt-in-the-mouth steak was cooked to perfection so we were very happy with our choice this... More

Bad appearance of the place, quote dirty, personnel inadequate, food in very small portions'! Absolutely far from expectations coming from other comments, maybe changed property... At the same price in Hanoi you can go everywhere and stay as a king (40 usd) for a main course and a side course.

Dear Sir, Madam, First of all, I would like to express our sincere apologies for the restaurant appearance as we just renovated our ground floor; some delays occurred during construction but we had to re-open anyway due to high number of reservation made prior we go under construction. I can understand that due to the appearance of our restaurant, it... More

La Badiane is a small cosy restaurant tucked away in a side street off a busy road. It's housed in a charming little villa with a small room with airconditioning provided with more tables in the courtyard area. The menu choice is not large, but sufficient. The mini baguette was nice & hot & crispy, and quickly polished off with... More

Located just west of the city centre, La Badiene's charming colonial-style building sets the scene for a gorgeously presented and sumptuous French-Asian fusion menu (emphasis on the French). Service was good and the manager seems to maintain a close presence throughout his restaurant. The meal was expensive by local standards (at $50 pp. for the cheapest 3 course set menu),... More
