Created in December, 2008, by three French friends, Minh Spielmann, Benjamin Rascalou & Anthony Balenci, La Badiane -French for the Star Anise spice- is heralding its claim to be one of the best restaurants in Vietnam dedicated to fusion of flavors and international gastronomy.

Surrounded by harmonious leaf plants, & walls predominantly white alternating with carefully chosen vivid colors, the place provides for a true feeling of calm and elegance, which gathers the best conditions to let your senses express themselves.

When coming in, an open-sky corridor planted with luxuriant vegetation leads you towards the heart of the restaurant. One’s attention will be instantly caught by the multitude of perfumes & aromas flowing out of the open front kitchen.

Then, depending on your mood & weather permitting, you can have your meal in the airy Patio, calm, convivial & surrounded by photographic art works. For a more intimate setting with warm colors you can choose one of the three air-conditioned rooms located between the ground and the first floor.

At la Badiane, all is about food but there’s also great attention paid to the service and the overall atmosphere, so that we make sure you enjoy every aspect of your meal. La Badiane, top 500 Restaurants in Asia by Miele Guide and “Certificate of Excellence” by Trip Advisor in 3 consecutive years 2012, 2013 and 2014 will never fail to satisfy you. wonderful meal in Hanoi!

We were recommended this place by a food tour guide in Phnom Penh and were so glad that we decided to go. The atmosphere was lovely and the service was fantastic! I have lived in China for a while and have become accustomed to the lack of service in restaurants there, so it was a breath of fresh... read more

Hanoi is not short of places to eat both cheap and expensive but La Badiane ticks many boxes for the western traveller who has sampled the street food, trawled the markets, been in the Hawker Centres and is looking to find something of a fine dining experience without completely breaking the bank. My wife and I wanted just such an... More

Having had a sufficient quantity of tasty Vietnamese food, my husband and I decided on French dining for our first night in Hanoi. La Badiane was well rated in Trip Advisor, highly recommended by our tour director and luckily just a short walk from our hotel. ( Movenpick) We were pleasantly greeted by the staff and seated comfortably near a... More

I have been here 2 times in January 2016 for a business lunch and dinner. The food is good. Service is very good. Decoration is old french style which quite nice. The Australia beef is very yum. Down stair is nicer decoration but upstairs feel more private.

My company hosted a dinner here with our trade union and it was fabulous! We had a large private room upstairs for 15 people. At least 5 servers made sure that we were well-taken care of. Definitely 5 star service level. The food was outstanding. Amuse bouche was light and airy, followed by a beautiful starter, then scallops and seafood... More

This very distinct place is a find among the common (but delicious) fare of usual street eats in Hanoi, and offers a serene spot for good conversation without intrusion. We each chose three items from the extensive lunch menu items, a starter, entree and dessert, printed in English and French. But the staff were comfortable taking orders in several other... More

And I was lucky enough to choose a Wednesday evening when a quartet from the Hanoi Opera House perform for guests. Try and coincide your visit. But back to the restaurant. Like several in Hanoi it is housed in an old French colonial mansion. The maitre D is French and has lived here for 10 years. French food. Delicious, matched... More

This was a real treat. The meal was amazing (& portions were generous) and the ambience perfect. We were delighted to have a string quartet to entertain us during the meal. Perhaps a little pricey by Hanoi standards, but this restaurant is really at another level and well worth it.

The decoration is very nice, old style French house. Started with beef and wasabi which my partner who doesn't like raw beef but she tested and loved it. For the main dishes, she had scallop and I had salmon which both dishes were very nice. My French fellow recommended this restaurant. We found out, we love it.
