Bun bo Nam Bo is marinating the beef, then comes making 'nuoc cham' and the pickled vegetables (shredded carrot and papaya). The pickled vegies is crispy, a little sour and a little sweet, which even makes me eat two bowls of the noodle at once. Remember to pickle the carrot (and papaya first, before marinating the beef) since it takes at least 1 hour to get a good flavor on the carrot.

Tasty Lunch

Ate here because it had good reviews online and in our guide book. Basically street food with an inside area to sit and table service, it’s all pretty basic inside, the Bun Bo Nam Bo was good though and washed down with a nice cold beer. Worthwhile for a tasty cheap lunch.

We stopped here for lunch and was great, only wish we had gone back! The cafe is simple, the staff were nice and the food was amazing! Simple Vietnamese food cooked extremely well. We found with all good resturants in Vietnam you need to look past the decor and initial appearances. If it is busy then it is good!! This... More

This was one of the street food places recommended to us that was still open late. The place was crowded, which to me meant that the food must be really good. The food was really good, worth it's price, and the service was quick. I wish they had some outside seating to really give it that street food vibe, but... More

After walking 10 kms arounnd the coty we checked tripadvisor and found this restaurant with many reviews. At first we were not sure we had found the right one since it looked pretty overcrowded and no foreigners around. However, after confirrming we were in the right place, we really enjoyed it. Do not expect anything fancy but if u are... More

Stayed in Hanoi for a very short time, but we came back here for a second night. They only do the one dish (bun bo nam bo), but they nail it. Always seems busy, full of locals and tourists as it garners quite a following. You will read about this one in a lot of travel blogs. Service is quick,... More

The Bun Bo Nam Bo restaurant prepares and serves a most delicious version of this classic Vietnamese "street cuisine" dish... During each of my visits, the food was prepared with lots of very fresh ingredients, perfectly seasoned, and brought to our table quickly after we placed our order. Seating is inside, with non-fancy decor, regular height tables, and taller stools... More
