Bun bo Nam Bo is marinating the beef, then comes making 'nuoc cham' and the pickled vegetables (shredded carrot and papaya). The pickled vegies is crispy, a little sour and a little sweet, which even makes me eat two bowls of the noodle at once. Remember to pickle the carrot (and papaya first, before marinating the beef) since it takes at least 1 hour to get a good flavor on the carrot.

Don't miss this place

if you like Vietnamese food, this is the place. And if you don't, this is the place that can make you change perspective. Small, vibrant place. Strong and well defined flavors. It gives you a fresh perspective on Vietnamese food. Worth a visit.

Like said in other reviews, you arrive and wait to be served the only dish available. It is an interesting mix but I found it had too much of certain ingredients, namely ginger, fried onion/garlic and parsley. Plus the lettuce is too much. However the beef is very tasty and the broth, albeit sweet, very savory. Worth a stop to... More

Incredible flavor in the dish - definitely go try it out. With a generous serving of vermicelli, braised beef, sprouts, dried garlic, and more - this meal packs a flavorful punch. Definitely try it out! Great value, too.

If you are tired of long complicated menus look no further. If you want great value, really tasty, freshly cooked Vietnamese served in a rough and ready cafe by cheerful and friendly staff - look no further. We loved it. A meal in a bowl for less than 2 squid (£2).

It sure is good food, it's fresh and tastes great. But it's not the only place (or THE place) in Hanoi to eat Bun Bo Nam Bo. You can get an equally delicious bowl for 20 000 VND less than this place. Also we didn't like that we were asked to pay and leave when I hadn't even finished my... More

A fantastic meal of assorted vegetables and beef in a noodle broth. Served within minutes of sitting down. Great food, great price. Brilliant.

As you enter, it soon becomes clear that this place is the fast food 2.0 of street food places in Hanoi. Although you already know that in Vietnam you normally eat your dish quickly, pay and then leave again, here there is not the slightest space for anything else. The place is filled with tourists that probably found it through... More

The taste of the food was exquisite, the texture the smell and the overall quality of the food was just brilliant, had to eat 2 servings to fill my hunger although the portions were big and i had just skipped a meal so was extremely hungry. :P

Excellent meal for an open minded traveler. Don't expect to be pampered as the service is basically just asking you what you would like to eat and drink at the beginning of the meal. If you want to experience great food in an authentic atmosphere that isn't too unmanagable if you don't speak the language than this is the place.... More

Place is full with locals. They do not actually serve the original pho, but something similar. It is not so expensive and very tasty.
