We lived in France for some years and I must say that the food at le Beaulieu was simply worth it. The price is not cheap but for its excellent quality in service, food, and historic atmosphere, I say this is a must do in Hanoi. If you're not a big eater but would like to try many dishes as... We enjoyed a reunion birthday dinner with six friends in mid March 2014. The setting and the ambiance of Le Beaulieu cannot be bettered: it's a beautifully appointed restaurant, in one the nicest hotels in the world. The food itself was very good, with the menu dégustation being particularly attractive. The wine list is extensive, with selections from all over... More

We were told by friends to go ther for "very good french cuisine". We went there for lunch and found there was only buffet. It was really just so so. When the bill was brought to us, we found we ended up paying about $45 per person. Really not worth it! Maybe should have gone for dinner?

This restaurant came recommended by friends still the food was a pleasant surprise. We were in group of three couples I had a steak made medium to rare and it was done to perfection can easily put it amongst the better of the steaks have had any where. The grilled salmon which my wife had was also very well prepared... More

There is never anytime I walk thru the doors at the Metropole without a huge grin as the doorman in his smart uniform greets you with a smile & a bow. Inside is a refuge of old world charm, polished wood furnishings & plush pillowed armchairs that seems so out-of-place in Hanoi. This city may once have been a nice... More

Came here in a group of 9. I ordered a prime rib as the main, and a seafood platter to share with 2 others. The prime rib was average; a bit tough and dry but at least it still tasted all right. The seafood platter was the killer, and it really killed the 3 of us. It was a cold... More

We had a lovely evening at Le Beaulieu in Hanoi. The drinks were fantastic, the menu was varied and the food was delicious. The service was excellent. It was nice to be in this hotel where so many before us had visited, indeed Graham Greene, Charlie Chaplin and many others lend their names to drinks on the menu. The restaurant... More

My husband and I wanted to end our Hanoi holiday with a great meal and Le Beaulieu was recommended. We thought it would be great too, as it was at the Metropole Hotel, often described as the grandest hotel in Hanoi. We had the degustation with wine pairing menu, and the food and wine was impeccable. Very enjoyable, high quality... More

Enjoyed French onion soup, followed by Australian beef and a pineapple and ginger dessert soup. All were of reasonable quality and served with quiet efficiency. Others in our party seemed to enjoy their choices too. Ambience is pleasant and relaxed in a colonial style atmosphere.

We tried the Saveur set menu at Le Beaulieu. The appetiser of Cold green pea soup with mint, marinated vegetables, and parma ham brioche was not a very impressive start as the soup itself was rather grainy and a bit thin. The Grilled prawns and squids, however, was delicious, radiating with wonderful smells of fresh grilled seafood and the squids... More
