Our beautiful location is on the North side of the moat that surrounds the quaint "old city" of Chiang Mai. It is a perfect place to sit, enjoy the breeze, sunlight and people watching on the main road. The interior is attractive, colorful and bright with our student's art work and long share tables to encourage customers to sit together and make new friends or private tables and a small sofa in the kids corner where there are plenty of books, toys and art supplies to keep the kids happy while parents enjoy their healthy vegetarian or vegan western or local style breakfast, lunch, smoothies or coffee and dessert. We serve many Burmese and ethnic foods that you can't get anywhere else so it is fun to try something new! We also have a fun and funky little Pre-Loved Charity Shop in the cafe where you can not only donate your old clothing, household items, books and more but purchase goods and support our charity at the same time. We have loads of English language novels, travel guides, hats, shoes, scarves, jewelry, men's and women's clothing and more. We also sell organic spirulina, triphala and natural skin care products from local vendors. Please come and check us out today! You can park cars, motorbikes and bicycles along the side of the building.

Read the reviews so we popped along for lunch. Oh my, what amazing food! I usually like some meat in my dinner, but the food here was so good. Even better it is all for charity with the profits helping to house some very poor families. Go and you will not be disappointed; plus you are doing good at the... More

What a place!!!! Great food and big selection and they even have tea leaf salad which I haven't seen outside Myanmar. Very good coffee and juices. Charity shop at back to help raise funds for projects so was able to leave books which I had carried from Vietnam. Staff very friendly. Will be my first stopping point on return to... More

Such good healthy but so delicious vegetarian food. Really reasonable priced and such cute staff. Even better that it supports the charity too and even has a little thrift store at the back.

I love everything I have tried at this restaurant. The pad thai was the best I have tried in Chiang Mai and over the years I have tried many a dish! The trail mix pancakes were light, fluffy and delicious but enormous and the Burmese papaya salad was flavourful and also delicious. This cafe has a great atmosphere and it... More

This is a terrific vegetarian restaurant with the biggest menu selection I have seen in a long time. Big selection of fruit and vegetable smoothies. I love that they support The Freedom House and have a corner that is a thrift store to support them as well. A group of 11 of us went for lunch and everyone loved it!

We had lunch here and enjoyed every bite! Tasty Shan curries, salads, rice and amazing smoothies! The cafe supports education and training for stateless young people and it's clear the work they are doing is making a real difference... Had fun browsing the mini charity shop on site... Service is a little slow but this isn't the kind of place... More

We tried the curries and vegetarian options and we were not disappointed. The ingredients were fresh and service came with a smile. There's a little charity shop on the premises too. We enjoyed our meal and it was for a worthy cause. Check it out!

This is such a great place and knowing that what I pay for my meals and refreshments helps their cause, makes my food that more enjoyable. The people are so friendly and supportive. Free Bird Cafe supports the street children of Chiang Mai and there are so many of them too. These kids get an education, learn languages and music,... More
