Just thought I should give some of you who may be wanting to try this fantastic place for dinner during your upcoming Chiang Mai holiday a "heads up". The Spirit House has now been open for about nine years now and the fabulous owners have decided to close for the months of March and April for renovations and reinvent a... More

A very nice atmosphere, and the food was good. Now, fortunately for us, since we were seated in outdoor area, one of the employees turned on a fan, aiming towards our table. I thought that kind of odd until I noticed all of the mosquitoes. So beware of the mosquitoes. The food was pretty good, I had a chicken dish,... More

We happened upon this restaurant by chance on our last night in Chiang Mai. The atmosphere was utterly charming (we sat in the garden), the food was absolutely delicious, and the service was wonderful. The owner himself greeted us and made us feel very welcome. I highly recommend!

Great ambiance, tasty food. I ordered the meatloaf (which was tasted great) came with baked potatoes. Arrived with a very tiny bit of a potatoe. Really ridiculous. The staf, except the owner, speak very little English, so every time I asked for something they just kept saying yes... That's all. Besides that tiny small potatoe, good restaurant.

We went there last year and just loved it. The owner was very charming and the food excellent. It's located outside the center, but well worth the trip.

- 4-star food (menu includes, european, thai, and other asian dishes) at 3-star prices - Good selection of cocktails and other drinks. - Incredible ambiance - one of the most beautiful restaurants (within a city) that I've ever dined in. - Great crowd. The owners Steve and Wanchai are great people, and I've met several friendly expats that frequent this... More

The Spirit House is definitely a Special place. Some may say it's hard to find (and dusty, lol), but it's certainly worth the trip out of the tourist ways. It is located on the grounds of an ancient Buddhist temple - Wat Ku Bia (with an enormous chedi in the garden) which brings a strong energy all over the place.... More

I visited The Spirit House, which I found only by chance, one evening in November 2013. A choir of ex pats was rehearsing for Halloween party cum fund raising function two days later and I therefore found myself in the lovely garden with a Chedi and a waterfall, being served very good thai food (adapted to a European palate) and... Steve warmly welcomes all his customers and he is interesting to talk to. Atmospheric setting, with lovely water feature and plants. Best chicken pate I have ever had and a big portion! Good menu and always several 'specials' to choose from. Have introduced several expats to the Spirit House and they have always made return visits.
