As I am having dinner at this restaurant with my wife, I am typing this review. This is a family run Thai Chinese restaurant with 24 years history. It has a retro furnishing with quiet ambience, and soft background music playing. Basically unaffected by the bustling traffic and modern eateries. As we wanted some non-spicy food, the man boss introduced... More

I had heard about this place and decided to give it a shot. It was a long walk from the centre but i didn't regret it. Nice simple decor, prompt service and a wide variety of dishes ! I tried a couple of soups, tom yum and a herbal soup, the sausage dish and a curry. Great stuff overall. Not... More

I have no idea why anyone would think this food is good. It's in the bottom 2 in all of Thailand for me. And the other was maybe slightly better, but also awful. Nearly inedible. I do not recommend this at all. None of the 5 dishes we ordered were okay. And we kept trying and racking up the bill... More

This place is a marvel of some classical Northern Thai dishes you aren't likely to find elsewhere. The menu is very broad so it's nice if you have several people so you can try more dishes. The herbal soups are to die for and make it hard for me to go on to the next course. Many aromatic and herbal... More

We discovered Hong Tauw Inn through one of the Chiang Mai Facebook groups, and decided that since we only live a hundred or so metres away, we'd give it a try. It's now become one of our firm favourites! The vegetarian and fish dishes are consistently excellent (I can't speak for the meat ones as we've never had any of... More

The menu was very extensive and covered almost all of the dishes of northern Thai cuisine. That said, none of the dishes was beyond average.

when you asked to a local people a restaurant not "for tourists" and where taste the thai food they suggested us to try this place; well was exactly what we were looking for! We spent all our dinners there (evein if the opposite direction of our hotel so need to take a tuk tuk). The Lady is very kind and... More

Hong Tauw Inn was our must-visit place for our lunch whenever we passed through or stop by Chiangmai. This unique diner offered the Northern cuisine with affordable price and good taste. On our last visit we already noticed the change in the quality of their dishes and made a special remark that certain dishes should not be order again. However... More

Had a number of meals here. Most very fine indeed. Huge menu. But the quality and portion size seems to vary, depending on the day. Service is fine, ambience fine and the clientele usually don't turn up in tank tops and thongs. English spoken. Beer is very cold!

This is one restaurant you need to try for great Thai food. You can order ala carte or a set menu for 2 to 4 people. You need to try the coconut chicken soup and the fried pork.
