I had been visiting this place for over 5 years. I ate there last week, my first trip since it re-opened. To be honest the place looked great but the food was awful. I ordered the pie, chips and gravy. The pie was so hard it was almost impossible to cut open and the contents were bone dry. Very disappointing,I... More

A few days ago I had a hankering for good old British Style fish and chips (even though I am an American expat) and after researching the subject on the internet, went looking for The Offshore on Sukhumvit Soi 23. Driving up and down the soi I could not find the place pictured in the many reviews. I then realized... More

I've spent many a night in the offshore 25 years ago, visited a few years ago for fish and chips, was great to see that it worked and the food was good for an expat chippy! Ray is grumpy but Keng is lovely and welcoming. I look forward to visiting again one day

The owner has attitude, which includes concentrating on the food rather than the decor. I would rate it highly for bacon sandwiches, fish (cod or local red snapper) and chips (not McFrenchFries!) A great collection of dated music, perfect for the clientele. Not a place to bring a date or a prospective customer......... .......but a great chillout, once/if they have... More

I've been to the Offshore Fish & Chip shop many times, and it's a bit of a Bangkok institution among expats hankering for a proper British style chippy. It doesn't quite make the grade in that respect, but I've had some good fish & chips here before. I've also had some rough meals here too, so it certainly seems to... More

The pies are OK, good enough. Every time I've been they've never had cod, but the snapper is OK, although not as meaty as the cod. Genuine Bisto gravy for your pies, decent mushy peas, very indifferent service. Just around the corner from Soi Cowboy and near the Sukhumvit MRT station, so convenient on a number of scores.

I have been visiting this place since it opened maybe 10 years ago and the bar before that. Walk through the door and you are transported into an English Fish and Chip shop even the fryers etc are authentic. More important the food is very good, just like home, in fact exactly the same!! If there are any other establishments... More

The Off shore is a Bangkok institution suspended in time. Started in 1983, when you go inside it is a time warp. Whereas everything around it has changed, it remains the same, which is not a bad thing. When one wants to escape from the madness of bangkok, this is a welcome spot. If you can get beyond the decor,... More

Almost certainly the best 'traditional' fish and chips in Bangkok if not Thailand. Cook to order and decent chips as well as I nice batter what more could you want. Not the most high-end dining experience but for a taste of the UK this is the place in Bangkok.

The place smells of stale fat, the tables are Formica and the whole place is run down.. But the fish is great, the chips are too - they have salt and vinegar, mushy pease and bread and butter. Not for dates, romance, ambience or atmosphere - but for good old fashioned fish and chips it can't be beat. Also does... More
