First, the address written on TA as I write this review is wrong. It's on Soi Phiphati 2 (not soi 1). To get there, head down Soi Convent from Silom Road around 200 meters and turn right onto Soi Phiphat 2 at the first 7-11 on the right side of the road (there are several others on the left side).... In a quiet side soi off of convent road this quaint little restaurant offers some of friendliest service. Its claim to fame is fish and chips. My grilled fish was panfried and rubbery. The salad was good. The price was a bit higher than average and only accentuated the disappointment in the food.

The owner Sam was very nice. The hand cut potatoes were delicious! The fish was good, not great but ok, for a fish and chips place it should be better. Plastic chairs and cheap metal tables make the atmosphere feel cheap but there are lots of plants that help make it enjoyable. The little staircase to get to the second... More

This place on a nice quiet street right in the centre of Bangkok. The roof top is lovely with trees and plants and nice lighting. The atmosphere is really good and it obviously has lots of regulars that keep going back for more. The food was good, I had the Dory fish and chips which was very tasty although the... More

After 21 days of Thai food we fancied a taste of home & Sam's didn't disappoint. From the hearty welcome after a climb up the spiral stair case to the crispy fish and chips, complete with mushy peas, malt vinegar and heinz ketchup, it was as close as a chippy comes in Bangkok. The meal also comes with a side... More

Read the recommendations on a travel book and reading the comments on tripadvisor.com, I really wanted to try the fish and chips there! Made 2 trips down with my Thai friend (Couldn't locate the place at first) and finally gotten a taste there. It was 10pm by the time with found the place, but luckily, a group of customers just... I don't know if Sam's is really a secret hideaway, but we never would've spotted it if we had'nt lived across the street. The roof top spot is nice, ambience good, food is tasty, freshly prepared but portions are a bit small. Sam is a friendly guy; a real character. He remembered us as repeat customers and therefore gave us... More

Sam's has very nice food in a very cozy atmosphere. The staff is very friendly. And they and Sam make it easy to get in contact with other customers. On buys nights, Manny will sing you favoured songs with his guitar.

I have lived in Bangkok for a few years and have been meaning to try Sam's Fish and Chips for some time. The location is delightful and both the owner and the waitress were very friendly and made us welcome. Unfortunately, prices seem to keep going up here - the only deep-fried fish offered now is Dory at B198 and... More

Sam's. What to say? Amazing, there is nothing else comparable, well worth a visit. Sam the owner/manager/chef/meeter and greeter makes you most welcome once you have navigated the spiral staircase to the rooftop of his house. Tables are set out amid the plants, the beer is cold, the soups first class, the fish (many choices) and chips as good as... More
