Relaxing afternoon tea

The place in Thailand for afternoon tea, it beats the Ritz (London) hands down. The blind pianist is quite exceptional and a delight to listen to.

Planned on having tea and scones at Authors lounge with my hubby and daughter but we were disappointed that it was under renovation. Even more disappointing was the Thai Iced Tea we ordered instead at the lobby lounge. It was weak, milky and tasteless. Surely MO would try to get the local favourites such as Thai Iced tea and mango... More

Unfortunate their infamous Author's Lounge was going through renovation hence the Afternoon Tea was moved to the Lobby instead. We do enjoy the great selection of food though . It has a combination of English and Asian (including some local delicacies) varieties to choose from savouries to sweets, the quality of food are just first class. It would be perfect... More

The Authors Lounge is a lovely spot for a resting and relaxing tea and the live music there fits with it very well, complimenting the refined surroundings. Space is limited so I would suggest booking in advance.

Definitely a must visit for tea or coffee if you are staying at the Mandarin Oriental Bangkok. Located in the historical building of the Oriental, you feel like you are transported to another era of travel and adventure.

If you are looking for a high end afternoon tea, Author is the place to go. Make sure to dress properly as they have a dress code. The lounge is comfortable and elegant, with white setting a lot of flowers making it refreshing.

The general manager Amanda has a wonderful cocktail party welcoming her quests to the Bangkok Mandarin Oriental Hotel in the Authors' Lounge. Such a nice way to make quests feel special and give them a terrific sense of belonging. Beautiful and very hospitable. You are the best Amanda. BTW we were there in February of 2014. Thank you
