High End Tea Afternnon

If you are looking for a high end afternoon tea, Author is the place to go. Make sure to dress properly as they have a dress code. The lounge is comfortable and elegant, with white setting a lot of flowers making it refreshing.

The general manager Amanda has a wonderful cocktail party welcoming her quests to the Bangkok Mandarin Oriental Hotel in the Authors' Lounge. Such a nice way to make quests feel special and give them a terrific sense of belonging. Beautiful and very hospitable. You are the best Amanda. BTW we were there in February of 2014. Thank you

I went to the hotel spa and had a good experience, then decided to drop by to try the afternoon tea. It was at 5 pm, and although it's not crowded, the staff was slow to attend to us. Once seated down, our group of 2 wanted to share an afternoon tea set and order additional drinks ala carte. However... More

They have a dress code of "no shorts or sandals" to "keep an air of elegance" in the establishment. Unless you're a woman in short shorts and sandals, in which case, that's fine. Dress codes should be for all or none - topping this off is a supremely uninspired offering of tea cakes. Some were too dry, others too moist... More

The atmosphere is very warm and cozy. The place has the skylight roof so there's warm sun light in the room in the afternoon. This venue considered the most popular for engagement ceremony and also wedding banquets.

My friend and I made a reservation for Author's Lounge and had a wonderful time there. The traditional afternoon tea set was definitely delicious, but for first-timers, I’d highly recommend the Thai Tea Set. It incorporates a lot of fun and traditional Thai desserts such as Tong Yip (an egg yolk tart), Khanom Duang (sticky tapioca and coconut milk+shreds), and... More

On our girls only trip to Bangkok we went to the beautiful 5 star Mandarin Oriental Hotel for Afternoon Tea in the Author's Lounge. This had been on our list to do for a couple of years but we kept running out of time. So this recent trip it was one of the first things we had planned. From the... More

The Authors' Lounge may not be on many tourists’ itinerary but it is certainly a charming place to spend a lovely afternoon. Reservation is strongly advised. I had tried to make reservation for high tea in 2012 and 2013 AFTER I arrived in Bangkok and it was fully booked both occasions. This time I contacted Mandarin Oriental via email 10... More

Been here for afternoon tea , and it was the right choice, everything went perfect, the place is charming and full of history, and it's easily send you about 120 years ago when it was established, the afternoon tea set is the best in Bangkok and the quality of hot drinks is not comparable, and the piano melodies that played...
