An old favorite

I have been going to ViaVai on occasion for many years. It is a very casual, though nicely decorated Italian on a fairly busy soi. Since there are so many good Italian restaurants in Bangkok, I only come here if I'm in the lower Sukhumvit rd. area. The wine list is limited but good selection and... read more

Staying at Landmark in Sukhumvit Road and looking for a break from Thai food. Take a right and walk along Sukhumvit Road turn right into Soi 8. Looks like a very touristy Italian restaurant but was one of best Italian meals we have had in a long time, and the service was delightful. Charming owner and waitresses could not be... More

Same logo, name as a favorite pizza joint in another city, so I stopped in. Decided on the seafood salad. Place was not crowded, but there were customers, and three staff plus a hostess and the owner(?). Ordered a drink after a long, but acceptable, wait, and dinner when the drink was delivered. The entree came in a timely fashion,... More

Via Vai has been around for a long time. It is good place for outdoor or indoor dining. As the name suggests the cuisine is Italian. Thai dishes are also served. At times set course lunches are available. These a delicious and very good value for money. Can recommend the pork schnitzel and vegetables.

Every visit to Bangkok, I stay close to Via Vai and it is convenient to stop by for a quick dinner. Every visit before this one, the food has been good and service great. Not sure what has happened but this was the worst Italian food I have had, anywhere. Wanted a quick pizza margherita and some minestrone ad both... More

The food is great. The price is ok.The order is nearly always wrong. 4 times they have either brought the wrong dish or forgot my dish. The management is always polite and apologetic but I limit my visits because of the service

Had a very good late afternoon dinner here. Via Vai can be reached easily by BTS skytrain and getting off at Nana station. Or walking as this is a highly congested area of hotels. Amongst the girly bars, host bars, singles bars and massage parlor there are a smattering of good restaurants. Via Vai offers good Italian food at reasonable... More

Love love love this place!! The food is excellent every time with lots of choice on the menu. The bar staff are friendly and efficient and it's a really good place to chill and people watch for an hour (or two!).

I had a small plate with mixed Italian cheeses for starter, with some crackers and a small bowl of honey. Together with the Cabernet housewine it was a really good beginning of the meal. Main course was an Ossobuco served with black truffle mashed potatoes. It was also really good, and then there was no room left for any dessert... More

Visited last night and had excellent food, better than most of the food in Italy last summer! Service very good and friendly, big menu; pastas, pizzas, grilled meats, fish, Italian dishes like osso bucco and saltimbocca and ice cold Prosecco at a very reasonable 220bht a glass. Good location few mins from Grande Sukhumvit and Prachara Suites in Soi 8.... More

Staying in Sukhumvit

Neighborhood Profile
With a mix of shopping malls, hip bars and food stalls lining both sides of Thailand’s longest road, you’ll rarely encounter a dull moment along Sukhumvit. While the main road itself doesn't offer a lot in terms of entertainment, it's the adjoining 'sois' (alleys) where the magic happens. Popular spots are soi 11 for a lively night out, soi 4 for naughty nightlife and soi 21 for world-class shopping at Terminal 21. It's hard to cover everything this area has to offer in on day, so be sure to take your time. Sukhumvit is heavily congested with traffic during day and night, so getting from A to B is most convenient using the BTS Skytrain right above it.
