Ban Khun Mae is conveniently located at Siam square and is a wonderful place to have a Thai meal. Granted, this place is a little pricier but you get to enjoy a wonderful ambiance. All the dishes that we ordered were yummy and is a must whenever I visit Bangkok. Would recommend this place especially to tourists as there are... More

My wife and I accidentally stumbled upon this place. In all my travels to Bangkok, I've never ventured quite this deep into Siam Square. I'm quite put off by the crowds. Anyway, this trip we were exploring, and starving, and just couldn't deal with the hunger any longer. This place looked quaint and enticing. Figured, why not. The place itself... More

Whenever someone tell me how good a restaurant is, I go with a pinch of skepticism. But I was pleasantly surprised by the place, be it the decorations or the food. We have ordered Spicy glass noodle salad, pineapple rice, pad thai and tom yum koong. Food served to us very timely and we are still raving on the spicy... More

Ban Khun Mae has been around for many years and the standard of the food is consistently good. Even though many of their customers are tourist, the chef did not adjust so much the taste of the food to cater to their taste buds. The food still taste very authentic Thai. Our party had 10 person and we ordered 11... More

In terms of food, moderate only. Is very easy to get the same taste and same kind of food everywhere in Bangkok. Service is so poor. Rude intonation was used on us when we need one of our order to change to other dish. Toilet is so dark wit musky smell. Old folks have to be very careful when using... More

highly recommend fellow travellers to try out their fried sun fish (or was it king fish?) it had a really crispy skin and the meat was abso-fluffly-licious! it went perfectly well with the chili sauce that came along with it. thumbs up!

Awesome food, great ambience with traditional live music! The tom yam soup and pad thai were good choices

I have been here many times and the food is always very good! Tried many things from the bbq pork, fried rice, papaya salad, green curry chicken, and many others. Ban Khun Mae is right across from the Novotel hotel in Siam. Easy to find and everyone knows where it is located so just ask. You won't be disappointed.

This was my second visit to Ban Khun Mae - the first time was with my wife in 2009. This restaurant has a traditional setting for its interior and exterior, plus they have performance using traditional Thai musical instrument for you to enjoy while dining. It is located in Siam Square near Novotel Hotel. We were lucky to find a... More
