Authentic and lovely

My local colleague took me here for dinner. The restaurant is cosy and the staff are superbly efficient! The kitchen is open for you to see! The food is excellent! Fresh fishes come all the way from Japan! The sushi, sashimi and teppanyaki are made so authentic! They also offer sake in earthen... read more

That is one of the best Japanese restaurants I have ever been to. Lovely moments in a nice ambient where you can watch (admire!!) the Chef and all cooks in the open kitchen in order to enjoy fresh raw fish and other delicious Japanese specialties! Do not forget the saké (cold or hot depending on the mood) :-) - FYI,... More

When you enter Kotestu, it's like being transported to Japan in an authentic local restaurant in Tokyo or Kyoto, where everybody knows each other and the food is fresh and home-made. The sushi is prepared with fish flown in fresh from Thailand, which enhances the quality for a landlocked country. The Yakitori is delicious, the Sushi astounding and the Wasabi,... More

After almost a week in Kathmandu and had enough of dal and curry at the conference venue hotel, this place has offered something distinctive. As we were not very much into sushi and sashimi, and the kobe beef teppanyaki was sold out, we ordered ramen and udon, which were terrific! The flavour was authentic japanese, no wonder this place is... More

I have been travelling to Nepal for many years now and I frequent this establishment many times during my stay, all I can say Its a little piece of food heaven. The sashimi is as fresh as you can get for this landlocked country. The lunch menu Is a very good deal they also have teppanyaki you can have whole... More

to get from Thamel you need either walk for 25 minutes (turn left after Garden of dreams and walk all the time straight. the restaurant will be on the right side of the road after Japanese embassy. Embassy itself is on the left side). or you can take public bus from Katni path road behind thamel - say Lizampat to... More

Went to one of the all you can eat evenings where you have two hours. Great array of sashimi and teppanyaki dishes with the seafood apparently flown in daily. Best seafood experience in Kathmandu. Okonomiyaki was fantastic.

As expats living in Kathmandu, we need something other than Dal Bhat from time to time. Kotetsu is our favourite spot to start a date night. Of course, the atmosphere is the one of a busy teppanyaki restaurant, not very romantic, but the Sushi, Teppanyaki items and tempura is simply to die for and very good. They do no always... More
