It's dark, smoky and packed with local students - I doubt it has seen a lick of paint since 1980.But if you fancy apple pie it's the best in Freak Street.

The Snowman cafe is almost an institution - it has been around forever and many hippies ate their cakes there in the heyday of Kathmandu...there dont seem to be many hippies anymore but the cakes are still very good - the place was a little dingy and dark but that adds to its charm....it seems determined to resist change....

This place might not look like much but it's very special! The chocolate cake is AMAZING, even if the power is off (which it usually is!) take a seat in the downstairs of this tiny cafe. Part of the original hippy trail from the 60s, this restaurant is a great place to soak up the atmosphere of Freak Street and... More

This place has fabulous cakes, home made style. Dark chocolate was delicous. I also had fresh peach juice and it was very tasty. Prices are reasonable and owner very friendly!

The place serves great pastries. One of the very best in the town. And,the place gives a kind of "hippie era" feel. Always a pick when you are craving for cakes, and need some time out for yourself!

Delicious!! One of the greatest place you have to experience. Their bakes are really awesome. Mural on the walls add great ambiance to the place.

The snowmans cakes are amazing. Went there looking for a slice of cake to celebrate a birthday while in Khatmandu. Tried Chocolate Love, coconut dream and double chocolate, all were just great! Power goes off occassionally, and dont use the restroom!

After Durbar Square, Snowman's is great to grab a tea/coffee and a slice (or two, if you can manage it) to replenish your energy reserves. The slices are huge and a fair price. Chocolate, Chocolate-Banana, Mocha cake, Coconut cake, Carrot cake, plus a few others, conspire to create the classic cake dilemma of which one to have. They all look... More

After an exhaustive walk around Durbar Square in Kathmandu, seeing the Living Goddess and the personal effects of 3 generations of Nepali monarchs, you need a sit-down, a drink and a debrief. This place is great for that. Nearby, on Freak Street, it's tucked away but still easy to get to. The atmosphere is a bit grungy, dark, a bit... More

first and foremost this place has been around for years... you will acknowledge that fact when you enter.. from the old uncle to the dark ambience of the place with the only source from a paper lantern above each table...it does not look hygienic and to be honest, im not sure how clean the place is BUT... if you wish...
