We eat at Dwarika's Nepali restaurant every time we come and I cannot say enough about the incredible experience. They offer 6 up to 20 course meals and you are served by Nepalese dressed in authentic folk dress representing various regions and ethnic groups. The food is Nepali but completed elevated. One course serves sauced mushrooms in a cream sauce... More

Wanting to experience the full breadth of cuisine, we had the 22 course meal for $65 ( this was a mistake - go with the 6 course ). They proposed combining dishes with 2 courses per plate, which was fine with us. We expected very small ( obviously ) portions of carefully crafted food. Instead, a large quantity dish after... More

I couldn't believe how extensive this meal was. I went with a group of people I'd been traveling with and we had a large table for 10. We were served a wide variety of interesting foods but by the time the "main" course came, I felt like I just couldn't eat anything more. You really have to have a big... More

The personalised menu and ambience were excellent and could not be faulted. We were extremely disappointed with the attitude displayed toward our guest who had just more than capably guided us for a 15 day trek, and to whom we felt indebted for providing us with a remarkable holiday experience in a beautiful country. This caused us great embarrassment and... More

Surely, according to Nepalese standards, this restaurant is not inexpensive, but the food is really good, and all in all it is a great experience. The whole Dwarika's Hotel setting is simply amazing. It's an oasis of calm and peace in the midst of a too crazy city, Kathmandu. Highly recommended.

We ate here during a three night stay at Dwarika's and the meal, location and service were all superb. We were sat at traditional low chairs, admittedly very uncomfortable at 6'4" and a cushion on the floor would have been better! We then had white aprons put around us like giant bibs before being handed our personalised menus. We had... More

This is one of 3 restaurants in the fabulous Dwarika's hotel. The other 2 are Mako's which is Japanese and Toran which serves breakfast for guests and has an "International" menu. In the centre of the peaceful courtyard in this hotel which is almost like a museum, is a cool bar called Fusion, which is great for a beside the... More

We went for the six course meal - ver traditional, seated at small, low tables but surprisingly comfortable. Not sure why we needed bibs as we didn't spill anything. The waitress helped us through each course with an explanation of what each signified and comprised and we received a customised menu to take home. Six courses was about 90 minutes... More

The 6 course degustation meal is a creative take on authentic Nepalise cuisine from 6 regions. They took the trouble to print personalised menus for us. You sit on low stools to emulate traditional Nepalise kitchen eating. Wonderful service. At times 5 waitresses served the various components of a course. All in a standout setting.

Our group of 10 was taken to farewell dinner to this restaurant. After 12 days of quite simple meals during our trip from Lhasa this evening was just fantastic. The 6 course dinner was just delicious, a symphony of Nepalese tastes. Sitting at a low table your legs crossed is of course a bit tough but worth the effort. The... More
