While this was our most expensive meal in Nepal, it was a great place for a "special treat." The food was terrific and the staff were helpful and kind, even when our kids became tired and stroppy. The Baked Alaska dessert was good fun, and each meal we tried was delicious. A little pricey, but a definite recommend!

A must in winter months. The central fireplace and the old world decor charms guests. Large portions. A memorable evening for two.

The Chimney restaurant at Kathmandu’s Hotel Yak and Yeti is legendary. Established by the Russian ballet dancer Boris Lissanevitch in a time when Nepal was still basically a closed country, The Chimney still reflects his influence. Chicken Kiev, borscht and goulash are just a few of the relics of Boris that appear on The Chimney’s ample menu. On a late... More

We went to the Chimney restaurant once while staying at the Yak and Yeti hotel. The first minor problem was to find it, as it is not well signposted. Once there we found the setting very pleasant - subdued lighting, with the famous copper chimney as the center piece. That evening we were one of only two couples in the... More

We came to this restaurant after reading about the famous great chimney and we had a fine dining experience worth of remembering. We selected a few dishes of international cuisine, french and italian, and were very satisfied. The service is very polite also and the place is definitely good for a romantic dinner.

We arrived late, but the staff took us in anyway. Atmosphere, drinks, and dinner were all very good.

My husband and I stayed at Hotel Yak and Yeti, Kathmandu, last week. On two occasions we both ate at Chimney restaurant. I must say the food was excellent and so was the service. We enjoyed everything we ordered and I can't really say anything negative about this place. The price is also reasonable for a fine dining restaurant. We... More

We ate here whilst staying in the Yak and Yeti. Food here is an experience. The traditional 'buffet' lasts for hours and is about a million courses . . . well, it felt like it anyway. Food ranges from Mo Mo's (awesome) to dry dishes that we didn't have a clue what it was. All very enjoyable but be prepared... More

I found sitting on the very low chairs a bit of a trial but the traditional Nepali food was well presented and very tasty. The staff worked hard to ensure that we enjoyed ourselves.

I had a lovely meal of roasted duck and risotto. It was very nicely prepared. The ambiance is romantic, quiet and just a tad dark. The copper chimney is a beautiful focal point. The service was adequate.
