This was really a truly retro (in a good way) experience - you can't help but feeling like royalty here. Attentive but not intrusive service, delicious food, and really a remarkable value. Excellent and reasonable wine list, and really creative entrees. A very pleasant and unexpected surprise.

This place is a step back into the past. Retro food, wine and service (using table clothed trollies). The food was delicious, the service was great and all for a very reasonable price (given its an international restaurant). Highly recommended for a fun and quirky step back in time.

I have had many a fabuloius, romantic, delicious meals at the Chimney Room in Kathmandu. Still famous for the Bortsch Soup, I changed my usual order to include French Onion Soup and Chateaubriand. It was outstanding. I've eaten at this restaurant since 1974. Still just as excellent.

Having been travelling around Nepal for a few weeks we booked a table at The Chimney for our last night as a treat. And it really was. The meal included complimentary starters, bread and truffles. The menu was absolutely divine - we went for the kiev and the chateaubriand. Dessert wasn't perfect but we forgave that for the quality of... More

In the famous Yak and Yeti Hotel, this restaurant is a real gem. It is small allowing for personal attention from the staff who were able to recommend from the menu to suit my tastes. A starter of borscht was followed by a superbly cooked peppered steak and local vegetables. A lovely bottle of Chilean Merlot complemented the taste and... More

This gem is overlooked by its crowded neighboring restaurant, which is a shame as it's the best food we had in Kathmandu. I'd recommend the- borsch soup, chateaubriand, and the duck. All fantastic. The service is also spot on, with attentive waiters that give you space, but are immediately there whenever you need something. A definite must if you're looking... More

You dont really expect fine dining in Khatmandu but the Chimney Restaurant attached to the Yak and Yeti was very good. There were 7 of us and they quickly organised a table for us all. Service was smooth and drinks orders were quickly taken. The menu was International but focused on simple quality dishes with excellent local ingredients. The bread... More

While this was our most expensive meal in Nepal, it was a great place for a "special treat." The food was terrific and the staff were helpful and kind, even when our kids became tired and stroppy. The Baked Alaska dessert was good fun, and each meal we tried was delicious. A little pricey, but a definite recommend!

A must in winter months. The central fireplace and the old world decor charms guests. Large portions. A memorable evening for two.
