I'll be back!

I've eaten at the Dish several times already this spring. Each wee there is a new menu and it never ceases to amaze me how the chef does it! She loves to create and execute her creations. And to be working with her sister! How fun is that! Open faced pizzas are a little weird, but their soups... read more

Ate here twice during a week stay in Abilene. Menu changes weekly - no credit cards. First lunch was fabulous - best meal of the week - open faced veggie sandwich with a fabulous quinoa salad. Second time not quite as good - balsamic glazed brussel sprouts on flatbread - great idea but too cheesy and saucy. Friendly service. Nice... More

This was our THIRD attempt to eat here. Once they were full (limited tables and only open for lunch from 11:00-2:00), second time - our group was planning to meet there only to find the place closed. Granted...the food was good...far from typical routine fast food fare; BUT, unless you remember to check their website they seem to have different... More

Charming ambience, friendly folks and, most importantly, the most unique sandwiches and soups anywhere. This place is a destination stop. Delicious eats in generous portions and two lovely sisters make it all happen with love. It' a 20 mile trip to enjoy this establishment at lunch time and I make that trip at leasy twice a week.

This is a great example of how Tripadvisor can enhance a travel experience. While making a quick stop in Abiline to tour the Eisenhower Presidential Museum/Library, we checked in for tips on places to have lunch. That led us to Dish which is located on a quiet street in the old downtown area of Abiline. Its exterior is so quiet... More

Dish is a place that you would not go to, if you were not from Abilene. It is in a former store front, in old downtown Abilene, and serves the best lunches for miles around. The menu changes every Monday (Soups, salads and sandwiches) and all seem worth trying. I was told their regulars, of which I am sure there... More

The dish is my favorite lunch spot in Abilene. Menu changes weekly, so there is always something new to discover. Never been disappointed. Save room for dessert!

Finally tried due to trip's reviews, lived up to rating and then some. Usual stop would be for Brookville chicken, decided to give this place a try since we were passing through doing their serving hrs. which is only for week days lunch. Two sisters join up to make a eclectic diner, don't let outside appearances deceive you. Soup and... More

Dish has an interesting (if limited) menu. Most in our group had the chicken salad with tarragon and tomato bisque soup. Both were delicious and portions were generous. Sandwiches and other menu items are somewhat atypical. I don't consider this a disadvantage, but Dish may not be the best option for diners who prefer many options and more conventional choices.... Visited here with friends from out of state and we were all impressed! The Dish is a tiny little restaurant with antiques tablecloths and dishes (read "not matching"). Everything is obviously homemade and is basically sandwiches, soup and salads. We all had something different and it was all delicious! The Dish is only open for lunch and the menu changes... More
