For coffee/tea, soft drinks and vegetarian snacks and meals, a pleasant and convenient downtown Thimphu eatery.

Let me start by saying, I loved the hot chocolate, definitely try it out. Now to continue with my review... This cafe is on the first floor and reasonably easy to spot from the street. There are some nice seating options, with the best ones being close to the window. Apart from the hot chocolate, I tried the egg and... More

In the heart of the city, Ambient Cafe is an excellent joint for a meal or a hangout. Limited food choices on offer but the quality of food and beverages makes up for it. The ambience is great and the street view is nice. We went twice on our 2 day visit in Thimphu. A must visit in Thimphu..

Liked: The food, hazelnut cappuccino, cakes, the service, the hospitality, the ambience. Many different options of tea, the concept of book-swapping. They explained all the unfamiliar items on the menu quite patiently. Quite a chilled-out place. The prices are slightly high for a group of college students but are worth it.

My friend and I stopped in here for lunch while visiting Thimphu. Great place if you want to get a break from local Bhutanese food. They have great coffee, plus free Wi-Fi Service was a bit slow, but as you are on vacation it is not the end of the world.

Good coffee ... a good selection of pastries ... interesting patrons ... and free broadband Internet (WiFi) ... what more could a weary traveler ask for.

Lovely informal ambiance, with the best coffee we had in Bhutan. Service was quick and cheerful, and the cakes were delicious and fresh.

I have been in Bhutan for 4,5 months and Ambient has through out the whole period been my ultimate favorite cafe in Thimphu. They have great coffee, the best hot chocolate in town and some nice food. Letho, the owner, and his family are so welcoming and always up for a chat. Great place to meet with friends or get... More

Great coffee in Thimphu. We designed our mornings around opening time. Mondays were a drag because they were closed. Our 9 year old daughter loved her hot chocolate as much as we loved our lattes. All this and great food too! And if you hang around here long enough you'll meet all sorts of interesting people.
