Excellent Vegetarian (Indian) food!!

We Indians cannot live without Roti (Indian bread), Daal (lentil) and Rice. This place serves one of the best indian food in Thimpu. Close to the traffic circle and the Clocktower, Cypress is not that well known to westerners. I enjoyed the atmosphere, and the food was fine. Service was a little slow, but very friendly.

Worth the climb up 3 flights. Everything cooked to order except Friday which we didn't like as much. Lots of spices and chilis to add. Best service in Thimphu.

Excellent thali menu on Fridays, which is great with a group of friends. Authentic feel means that it is poorly lit with old furniture, but feels clean enough and the food tastes great and comes at a bargain price.

This restaurant was very clean and had lovely food. As usual the staff were very obliging. The owner was keen to talk about Australia and knew some of the cities here. Great experience.

Cypress is a tiny restaurant that is located in Norzin lam . There is nothing spectacular about this place -but if you are in a budget and wanna try the Nepalese thali this is the place to be .

In general everyday the food is good. BUT...... on fridays they do Thali, Nepali set plates, and it's pretty freaking good. Tasty and not expensive, what more can you ask for! You'll thank me later... though if you have too much pickeled radish with the meal then you may be hurting the next day and no longer thank me :)

On Friday this place it's full of locals and you can enjoy the special Nepal dishes. It’s real authentic (as you will probably be the only tourist in a place that is full of people) and the food is superb.

Great Nepali food. The food here is always fresh and interesting. The owners are incredibly nice and friendly. The Thali on Friday nights is especially good and has a lot of variety. Dishes off the menu are excellent as well. This place is often full and the reason is not a mystery.

Don't be afraid of the dark hallway to get to this place. I lived in Thimphu for one year and this place ranked as one of our favorite go-to places. The kitchen is very clean and the food is always delicious. It is good for Indian, Nepali and Thali on Fridays. yummy Masala Tea, Paneer, curries and Bhutanese dishes too.... More
