It is a good "tourist" restaurant. It has many of the traditional dishes, and a wide variety of other offerings. I had Yassa poulet that was good. As always the portions were large. In smaller local restaurants the same dish can be found a lower prices.

Chose this restaurant as recommended by the hotel I stayed. The restaurant offers local dishes including Cape Verde's menu (I did not try). As commented below, each dish is big enough to share with two people. There is also another African restaurant (listed in the tripadvisor) just next to this restaurant across the small street. When we visited it was... More

It's a good place to start if you're new to Dakar and/or Senegal. Their mafé is good, the yassa is always decent... but nothing stands out as amazing. Average is about right for this place - good food at a good price.

The food was good (I ordered Yassa Poulet). There was radio music playing but also a live musician. Needless to say, the background music became a discordant noise.

This long standing Dakar place is still serving excellent food in amazing portions. The service is friendly and the prices low.

My portion of yassa poison was huge and very tasty. The decor was not that great and the staff not very friendly. Oprn until 11pm.

If you go once, the chances are you'd go again. Great food, friendly atmosphere and a lot of ambiance. It can get very crowded but that's part of the fun. Lunch or dinner at Chez Loutcha makes a visit to Dakar more complete.

Believe the other reviewers in terms of quantity of food - one dish can serve three people. We had the seafood paella - which was very good - doubt it was paella rice - good anyway. Atmosphere was very casual. Owner speaks English but waitress did not. Overall it was just ok...I wouldn't recommend to anyone but could be me.

I've been eating at Chez Loutcha for 23 years since i first visited Dakar. Very simple, local place with basic tables, chairs, decorations---- and excellent food served rapidly by good/friendly people. The restaurant is esp good for Senegalese specialities and seafood. Their juices (ginger, bissap, etc) are excellent. Both international and local people enjoy this classic restaurant. I visit every... More
