Very nice clean, good service restaurant, cafe and all round cake shop! Obviously very popular with locals too. HIgh standards, and welcoming. Recommended for a meal or just coffee.

the place serves mostly non veg food, but is hell of an expensive for the quality and standard of food on offer.. should be avoided if possible.

Its not "manger sur place" Its take away patisserie, sandwicherie. They did not have many choices for vegetarians, but yes, I liked their croissants, pain aux chocolat, and pain aux raisin. Its not pricey according to the standards of Dakar restaurants. A croissant will cost you around 65 US cents, and pain aux chocolat around 80 cents.

If you are in downtown Dakar, try the Galette for Brk lunch or dinner. The Goat Cheese Salad (at the tea room) is one of the best salads I'v ever eaten. The 3 course meal at the proper restaurant was easily the most pleasurable meal I've ever had for about $16. They even gave a free espresso. Try the Pain... More

As others have stated, the food is overpriced for the portions you get, but luckily, the quality more than makes up for it! I had a small pizza "Reine" (and when I mean "small," I mean SMALL...you can fit the whole thing in the palm of your hands, and it cost about $5 USD)! But it was DELICIOUS! Hands down... More

Food here can be as simple or as complicated as you like, from burgers to Thai salads. Good coffee and attentive but not intrusive staff. Look for the Galette take away bakery on street level and go up the stairs between the two shops, at the top the tea room for the more simple foods on your right, restaurant to... More

La Galette is like the Inspector Gadget of dining out options. You can get fresh bread (baguettes, ciabatta, multi-grain, they have it all) or ice cream cakes or macarons wrapped up to go through one door. Through the other door, you can get quiches or pizzas or sandwiches for a quick lunch (they also deliver.) Or, you can climb the... More
