Nothing fishy about this place

We had the whole crispy Thiof fish and it was absolutely amazing. It seriously had the best spices we tasted in Africa. The atmosphere was comfortable and relaxing. Our waitress did not speak a word of English but fortunately there was an employee nearby that spoke a little. it made the experience... read more

I spent a very enjoyable Saturday evening at La Calebasse. There was a wide range of local food on the menu, with some very tasty seafood, and the waiting staff were very pleasant. The best thing about the restaurant was the atmosphere. There was local art on display and a live music act - for most of the evening this... More

Had a lovely meal on the night before I left Dakar with my colleagues at this resturant and it was a pleasant experience. The food was very nice as I ate a well spiced whole fish which was real delicious. The service was fair and enjoyed the lovely pieces of art on display in the resturant. You even get to... More

If you're a tourist, swing by. The combination of art, music and food makes it worthwhile. I'm in Dakar for a while and don't plan to go back. I know better places to procure art and food...

I really liked this restaurant - it is very traditionally decorated, wooden chairs and even wooden plates, nice views and the food is delicious! They serve lunch menus of three courses for a very good price.

Kind of hard to find on the main road called Rte des Almadies, but as you near the lighthouse, look for a three story natural wood structure on the oceanside of the road. There is no signage that says the name of the restaurant, in fact there is a big wood carved sign next to the front door that says... More

Fabulous, authentic African setting. Small but good menu and wide selection of Warang fruit liquors. Great African music with the meal. Service was a bit too relaxed for my western needs. Food was very good and some interesting local dishes. Overall best meal experience we had in our week in Dakar but I have to say it is at least... More

Live music, excellent food, and beautiful decor - loved La Calebasse! I had the mango and papaya salad and the tuna skewers. Both were amazing and I had so much tuna I took some home for the next day!

I did not specifically like the place to be honest. Food is Senegalese, but quite average and entertainment is always a question of coice especially if it is so loud you cannot talk over dinner anymore. Too me it felt like a quite touristy place and I would not necessarily return....

Characteristic place: tastefully decorated space, real good food. We visited on a thursday (gospel choir) and had an excellent time., The name of the restaurant was not visible from the outside
