Almost by chance we found our way to the Gathemann Restaurant in Windhoek. Tucked away above the Shops on Independence Avenue, we had a lovely dinner there. We were fortunate enough to be able to have a little Chat with the Chef of the kitchen and told him that we would be really happy if he could serve us whatever... More

yes, it is pricey for Namibiam standards but coming from Europe it is well worth it. We had shrimp salad and oysters as starters followed by kudu fillet as main. Presentation, taste and service were excellent. And the extensive wine list is also a pro! We would highly recommend this place. And as an extra bonus, it is in 5... More

We went to this restaurant our 1st night in Namibia and were not disappointed. It is located on the second story and we ate outside with a quiet breeze. We ordered traditional Namibian food and it was fantastic. The chief came out personally and talked to us and encouraged us to try a dessert made from a local fruit (Monkey... More

We had two meals here, a lunch and a dinner and both were excellent. Beautiful Namibian oysters, and the best steak we had during our time in Namibia. Nice cheese platter for dessert. Good service and a lovely spot to eat out on the verandah, overlooking Zoopark. Can thoroughly recommend this restaurant.

We had a very pleasant dining experience. I wanted the chef to know we couldn't have sugar and we also had a question about the spicing of one dish. The chef came out and we had a lovely chat. We specifically wanted to know about the Monkey Orange we had never seen before. He sent out a complimentary dish for... More

6 of us for or final dinner in Windhoek. Whilst our booking had been lost (!!!!) they still found us an outside table. Service was typically African (good, courteous, but a shade slow), food was delicious, good sized portions, and the bill was not overly exorbitant. I'd go back

We already had a very pleasant experience here our previous trip nine years ago. So we came back and were satisfied to see that the food was always so good, the atmosphere with a touch of nostalgia quite in harmony with the place and with what seems to be the philosophy of the chef. We hope to come back again.

I went there seven years ago and it did not left anything special in my memory but since it has the reputation of being THE gastronomic restaurant in Windhoek we went for my husband's birthday and I think that it will be the last time for me except if I am invited there. It is expensive for nothing really special.... More

Gathermann must be the single most expensive eating establishment in Namibia (and possibly southern Africa). If I wasn't on the companies buck, I would have turned round and walked out the door. Having said that, when the food arrived, it was definitely of superior quality to the other restaurants in the vicinity. The fish and steaks that we ordered were... More
