A lovely airy homey place which spills over with locals and tourists because the food is food and inexpensive.

The Classic Restaurant at La BONNE MARMITE is in the heart of busy Port Louis. The food includes:creole cuisine:rougaille poisson sale(salted, dry fish),octopus salad/heart of palm tree. Indian cuisine serves fish curry ,dal, pickle fish, and other delicious dishes. Try ras malai or kulfi ,delicious!as desert

I was there with friends on a weekday. Tip is to always book before you go since we were told it's always full.. And we understood why :) We were seated in lower deck. Nice cozy ambience with water feature. There was a buffet with a variety of salads and we had many choices for the main course. Vegetarians and... More

Went there after a meeting and enjoyed a very nice curry, excellent service, very central location in the middle of the business area of Port Louis. The restaurant is located in an old building, full of history, nice wooden floors and antiques furniture.

I had a business lunch on a Monday and it was relatively quiet. The restaurant is in the heart of the banking district of Port Louis. It is on 2 floors. We ordered a la carte and I tried a local seafood dish, which was very good. The portion sizes are large. The fresh orange juice was also good.

We went there after reading reviews in lonely planet. We tried the buffet and unfortunately it was nothing spectacular. The buffet was offering limited choice, salad, 3 mains (fish curry, chicken Chinese style, chicken with mushrooms) 3 vegetables but only 2 were available, and desert. Not impressive for 1060 MRU for two of us. We had a look at the... More
