One of the best restaurants in Tripoli. With live music and nice view of arch of Marcus. The place is clean and the service is perfect and they have delicious food. Especially don't forget to try the jarrah.

That's right this is indeed a restaurant within the ancient ruins of a Roman city. They serve up traditional Libyan fare including baby camel cooked in a clay pot which they break in front of you!, come here at night the atmosphere is fantastic.... only down side is its quite pricey

I have eaten many times at this little oasis. With its open front looking out onto a 1st century, perfectly preserved, Roman arch it is a very romantic setting. The food is tasty, traditional Libyan fare and well presented. As others have said, the traditional local dish of Libyan soup is very good here as is the goat casserole. The... More

I know that Tripoli is a no go zone now but once it blows over and you make it there, Al-Athar restaurant is probably the best place to have your first dinner out in Tripoli. The food is quite good. Try the Libyan soup and you will be hooked for life. The signature dish is the baby camel tender meat... More

Food was generally always good. Restaurant is clean and service is attentive. For something different, try the stews cooked in pottery and cracked open and served at your table. Fish is always good there as well.

This restaurant is located in the heart of Tripoli and next to archaeological Roman Arch of Emperor Marcus Aurelius, also it overlooks one of the old mosques in Tripoli, which one must visit, and in front of one of old hotels also not far from the museum and the Martyrs' Square, and within a walking distance of the old city,...
