Was the most popular spot on the Addis pub-restaurant scene when I was here in the mid-1980s for 18 months. Old world London pub in the rear. Good moderately-priced international cuisine. Best Irish coffee and tiramisu in town.

This well decorated place serves a variety of Western style dishes, and we had no problem with the food.
Quiet and quite charming place, serving surprisedly good international food, which is quite rare in Addis. Good steaks, reasonably good wines (also rare in Addis...), friendly service and a nice atmosphere.
I have tried this retaurant for almost four years - largely because it was close to my office! But a favourite place for most of my meetings. And they make the best steaks - the legendary Cottage Pepper Steak. Their starter garlic breads are amazing too. If you go there in the evening, don't forget to try their Irish coffee!
I last dined at the Cottage 6 years ago and not a single thing has changed, not the building, decor, menu or service. Good I say! Western restaurants where the chef/cook actually knows how to cook Western style are still rare in Addis, but things are getting better. This place has consistently good food and service, best for intimate meals...

This restaurant is one of the best in Addis Ababa. I went there one evening after a very long and tiring day. The service was impeccable and the food was delicious. I loved the ambiance of the place as well. It is the sort of restaurant one wants to go to with a dear friend or a favored lover. Nevertheless,...

I really enjoied my dinners at The Cottage. The waiters were happy and friendly and the food was good. I had the liver and veal and both were really good. A bonus is that the restaurant has a big parking area which makes it very accessable by car.
Great food, a good place to go for when you've been in Africa a few days and need to feel a little "American". Great service and good prices.
We went to the Cottage on the advice of a friend who lived here in the late 1960s. Apparently, as a young expat, he convinced the Cottage management that Irish Coffee should be on the menu. Forty years later, the Irish coffee is still on the menu, and it is sublime. Ethiopian coffee is fantastic, and the whipped cream was...
