At first we thought "tourist" trap and there were lots of tourists but we decided to stay and are so glad we did. Started off a bit slow but the music and dancing was wonderful. It is a dinner with show style venue but the dancers are incredible for their energy and enthusiasm. The food is pretty typical Ethiopian fare... More

We tried the buffet. Very nice food, reasonable prices, great music performance. It can become crowdy, so make a reservation.

We went to Yod Abyssinia with our tour guide our last meal out 'on-the-town'. The place was packed with tourists and locals. I was really looking forward to the cultural dance. Yes, as another reviewer stated, the show is definitely 'staged', but it didn't detract from our enjoyment of it. The food is good, typical of what we'd eaten elsewhere,... More

Although Yod Abyssinia may not be a very great place to eat for a Vegan like me, it is an excellent place to taste traditional food of Ethiopia. They have loads of variety and the presentation of the food is amazing...

Good food and excellent entertainment with traditional songs and dance. Food may be a bit pricier as compared to some other local traditional restaurants but I guess you have to pay for the entertainment in some manner. Overall I thought it was a good value and enjoyed this restaurant twice during my 10 day stay.

There are 2 locations for this restaurant, one near Bole Airport and one out in Old Airport. There are any number of traditional Ethiopian Restaurants to chose from in Addis. Local friends have comments that it is pricey for the food...the entertainment is good.

I was there in about 2009 with 2 sons for a reunion/vacation. We were told not to miss this event and we are glad we didn't. The highlight of course was the traditional dancing which was very high energy and non-stop. The music was captivating as well. There are multiple "tables" which are low pedestals for the trays of food... More

There's nothing wrong with Yod Abyssinia, but nothing really right with it either. The menu is precisely the same as at any other Ethiopian restaurant, and though the food is competently prepared, it totally lacks imagination. Everything is just 'standard'. The same with the music and dancing - smiling and going through the moves, but with zero flair. Every dance... More
