I went to this restaurant for iftar whilst in Tunis during ramadan for business. The food was delicious and abundant. We've been spoiled with four courses of authentic tunisian dishes with nuts and almonds. The dessert and tea were superb. The staff are very charming and friendly.

Best couscous I have ever eaten. Six courses for lunch--including two desserts...and topped off with a pine nut mint tea. It's a small restaurant with lots of old royal family portraits, and busy for a reason.

Well, it is difficult to describe the place! Not a big restaurant, located in downtown Tunis, it is easy to miss it as it is not really standing out.....but wait to get inside! The gold and glitter will sparkle everywhere! Plates decorated in golden design, golden candle holders, the chairs are also golden colour painted...all is glitter and brillantine! And... More

We choosed this restaurant because it's ranked first... But i was really disappointed about the food! The first course is a variety of couple of small dishes like tapas but nothing special and not delicious at all, i'm morrocan and it's the same food sosincerely what it's about. The second dishe, you have the choice between beef, fish and chiken...... More

I discovered el walima during a business lunch and I was thrilled by this deliciously warm experience! Owned and run by "the tunisian bey's daughter", this little restaurant is well renowned for its great food and special atmosphere and it really lives up to its reputation. . And beyond! The owner also enjoys wandering graciously in the restaurant and greeting... More

El Walima is owned by the grand daughter of Tunisia's last Bey (the Ottoman representative in Tunis...sometimes also referred to mistakenly as the king). The graciousness of the owner, Saloua, along with her husband and well trained staff makes El Walima a well worthwhile place to visit. With the exception of the month of Ramadan, El Walima is only open... More
