The food here is good, better than most Tunesian restaurants, but the service level is not at par with the food.

The food when we went was decent, we had grilled fish and brik. The prices are on the high end of normal Tunisian prices, but you are paying to eat in a nice setting. However, I would recommend going to Dar Hammouda Pacha or Dar El Jeld if you are able to instead. The staff were very attentive and picked... More

we end up here by chance, looking for another restaurant which was closed...and suddenly we were ringing on the door...opened and entered into very old traditional (rich family) house, redecorated to a "top class restaurant"... so what is Top class here: 1. privacy behind the door 2. settlement in old nicely decorated house 3. traditional musician with simple plays 4.... This traditional restaurant is located inside Medina, in an old building transformed in restaurant. The owner provide a "shuttle" service to conduct you there from the Kasbah square, as it is difficult to find the andress of the restaurant in the labirynth of Medina. Food was mainly tunisian. The couscous was truly delicious. There was also a musician playing a... More

The restaurant is located in the heart of the Medina, the old town, in an old palace. The hand-painted tiles and old photos are definitely worth seeing. The food is mediocre and overpriced, and they do not serve alcohol to distract from it. The service is attentive but clumsy,

It's a surprise walking in from the streets of the medina. It's so calm and peaceful. The walls were filled with beautiful tiles. The staff was excellent. We started with a plate of appetizers as suggested by the waiter. that was fun as we didn't know what many of the items were. We had fish couscous, and my husband had... More

This was one of 4 restaurants we visited in the medina, and was definitely one we enjoyed the least. The menu is relatively short and we found the cooking to be nothing special, especially given the price. There is no alcohol served. The decor was lovely, and some of the other tables were able to visit up-stairs to look around.... More

My wife and I are here in Tunis on our honeymoon, and we've had a rough time finding well-prepared meals in a clean setting with service to match, which is particularly disappointing given the rich culinary tradition of North Africa and the amazing fresh produce and seafood available here. Dar Belhadj was exactly what we were looking for. First, the... More

This place competes with Dar el Jeld in terms of food, and has a very cozy setting. The service is also great and the good news is that it is not very crowded so you could walk-in without reservation at anytime (almost)!
