Lovely atmosphere, good food

We were positively surprised by Baraza, considering it's a hotel restaurant. The outside area is lovely on a nice day and has a real tropical island feel to it. The food was very good. The peri peri prawns were superb and the grilled chicken was good as well. The curry was excellent and the burgers... read more

The seafood platter was excellent and the selection of South-African wines did not disappoint. Great service and a relaxed atmosphere for a Saturday night.

This is the hotel restaurant of the Southern Sun Hotel (BTW a great hotel in Dar) so was surprised to find it when googled best places to eat in Dar Es Salaam. Had a great meal the night of our arrival - really fresh fish and great desserts. Two days later we went again and had another very good meal.... More

The set-up and atmosphere is very pleasant, but the menu doesn't really please. Nothing special, just the usual dishes you can find anywhere else. They could do so much better by being innovative.

Hi Dirk Thanks for the feedback! I think the only thing missing from our menu is your wonderful chocolate? Where is it :( Seriously though we do refresh our menu every six months based on the popularity of our dishes, and feedback from our customers. We have a fantastic and diverse customer base and appealing to them all is a... More

I found this restaurant purely by chance and it turned out to be excellent. Lovely restaurant, great outdoor seating, very nice and helpful staff. The food was really delicious, well presented and a great blend of local flavours. It tasted really fresh and prices were excellent value for money. Recommended if you are in Dar.

I had dinner at Baraza three times during this visit. They all looked like from different restaurants and all tasted great. The dishes presentation, the outstanding service and the atmosphere round it up.

Had dinner at the Restaraunt during the stay at the hotel: very nice decor, atmosphere and really nice food. Good variety on the menu and fast service. For a hotel restaraunt, it is really good; you don't need to step out to the dusty streets of Dar
