What a pleasant surprise!

It's quite unfortunate that La Perle du Sud has a very shady entrance (reminiscent of a clandestine upstairs massage parlour) with a 'receptionist' with a name badge whose only job is to walk us up the stairs to the restaurant - slightly awkward presentation. They served typical Moroccan food for a fare price. It was a simple, nice, good, inexpensive dinner with live music. I totally recommend this place.

This is a great restaurant! The location is very good, close to Place Jemma el Fna; the restaurant is on the roof, with a great view of the Kotoubia Mosque tower. Very good welcome and service. A couple of local musicians were playing, this gave a nice atmosphere without being obtrusive. We had lamb tagine, mixed grill and vegetable tagine.... More

Lovely meal at La Perle Du Sud. Located close to the Jeema El-Fna square. Restaurant has a lovely rooftop terrace. One of the nicest ones we have been on in the area - great to watch the sunset. The couscous is really good and the staff are very pleasant and friendly. Reasonably priced and I would definitely recommend.

We came hear from recommendations on trip advisor. Easy to find, just off the square. Staff were friendly and attentive. It was a very hot evening and they had cooling water sprays which was a delight. We both enjoyed the lamb and date tagine which is one of the best we have had in Morocco, costing 90 MD. The meal... Ok service, ok food, ok everything. It seems like the waiters has a lot to do. We didnt get so much attention, which resulted in long waiting time. The green light ruins the atmosphere and the flashing sign which says "La perle du sud" is tacky.

This restaurant was difficult to find, we only saw it due to the lit up sign over the small door. The roof top terrace was lovely and calm away from the hustle and bustle. The Moroccan salad to start was gorgeous. The mains were nice, but the quality of the meat wasn't great. Gem amid a lot of grubby places... More

Reasonable pricing, good food. Friendly staff. Unlike when walking on the streets, you're not constantly being attempted to be cheated :). General travel advise for the city is that there are lots of "helpful" people, that all demand to be paid after offering "help". Also unless being a pro on bargaining, don't buy anything in the market. Airport or shopping... More

Situated right in the centre of the medina, the riad offers a welcome escape from the hustle and bustle of life in the souks. The food here was nice and not too expensive. It was not outstanding, but the location made up for it. I would recommend visiting at sunset to make the most of the nice views.

We were 7 - including 3 kids - at La perle du sud. It is a lovely restaurant with good food at reasonable price. 90 to 95 MAD for a grill or tangine - and very tasty. Both Venus and Jupiter were setting behind the minaret in the west. just glorious. The live music was just right.
